It is just like Alex Smith, you cant put the genie back in the bottle with out damaging it. The media and the Fans only give so much before they start boo and write articles or twitter i suppose these days twitter. Just dont put your franchise QB though that.

Bill Walsh had alot to say about Montana and Young and why throwing them to the wolves was a really really bad idea. Particularly Young, we (the nfl) don't get a HOF QB in Young if he stayed in Tampa. It took years to fix the bad habits.

I pray they dont put Lance though that. I was 60/40 on Mac Jones over Lance, but they went with the much better tool set. You have a perfect QB to build up, so spend the time to build him. So what if he is on the bench all year. It is another season for him to grow, and it is another year for the coaches to figure out how to build an offense he will excel at. It is a win-win long term.

This times 1000. If the kid is still raw, put him back in the oven for more seasoning. He'll get there eventually, give him time. His throwing mechanics in particular are clunky, and his release time is too slow, he'll get killed out there. Give him time to get better.

At some point, he needs to just play. He needs experience more than anything. Also, as we've seen, sitting him doesn't stop people from writing negative stuff about him. If anything, it makes it worse because people will assume if he sits that he must be a bust.

There will always be that, but that is 2000 miles from non-stop video of a confused QB making mistakes.

He should play, when he is ready to play. That might be today, like right now... I don't know.... I just hope they protect his development to give him the strongest chance for success.

Hes been working on his mechanics for 2 years. If it's still clunky.

If it is still clunky you give him more time to fix it.

Think of early Jeff Garcia versus late Garcia, or ...... Tedford Rodgers versus late Rodgers.

Again...dude might be ready TODAY...i don't know.... I just think it is imperative to protect your young QB and give him the best chance of success.

His release isn't Jimmy's (elite), but it's fairly compact. Not concerned. More concerned to see consistency with his footwork -> accuracy. He was hot/cold on that. But the HOU game looked better than the AZ game, so trending up.

John and Kyle are betting on Trey the person. They see the physical tools but they believe it's his intangibles that is going to make him an elite QB. Work Ethic, IQ, Leadership, Hs mentality, And yes the system he is brought into. Ryan Leaf was a bust, Not because of his physical skills but because of all those intangibles I just mentioned. The same reason why Sam Darnold has been a bust. Tom Brady is the best QB all-time because of his intangibles, The same with Joe Montana. It's the reason why I don't believe Trey will be a bust, He has everything you can't teach. IMO the only way he turns into a bust is if he suffers a career altering injury.

I agree with this totally. Can't wait for Trey to prove any doubter wrong and elevate this team.

This. He has a bob in his motion, but that's not his release. His windup is a tad long (usually), but it was never some debilitating thing, and he showed some improvement on that in the second half of the season.

This is completely fine for the NFL:

Trey can make all the throws whether quick slant passes, intermediate outside route, or deep passes.

The film speaks for itself.

^^ I agree. I've seen it's. He does have the skills. But it was a bit inconsistent, which is understandable considering he's going through mechanical changes to his throwing motion.

Inconsistent based on what? Playing 2 games, getting no reps with the starters since day one and not playing football for a yr prior?

not sure what people where expecting?

His mechanics aren't awful at all…yes he needs to get more consistent in his lower half, but that's a repetition thing. he's gonna have to rep through inconsistent and fans need to be cool with that…good things happen with patience. Lance is about the next decade. The great thing is we don't need him to be Josh Allen 2.0 to win football games right now. I just want to see improvement from him.

He just got that word "clunky" from Cowherd. When people have opinions that differ from truth, it's easy to latch onto anything that fits their narrative.

Hey I've been team Lance from day one, I'm just stating an area of his game that'll take time. I'm hoping to see improvement come TC/preseason.

A young kid going from NDSU to the NFL, put it games that matter before he was supposed to.
I chalk up 90% of the form breakdowns to nerves. If I were in his shoes I probably would have shat myself.
He is comfortable now. The minor issues should clear up, hopefully not to be replaced with any new ones.

Absolutely this, couldn't agree any more, when I was watching the film I had him as the #4 QB in his class. Having heard everything said about them all and with all the information we have now, including game film I'd honestly take him 1st, he will outwork them all.

I think Kyle regretted not thoroughly getting to know Mahomes and believing in the intangibles, and wasn't going to make that mistake again.
