Shouldnt have traded all that draft capital for any of them if we're being honest

Should've extended Jimmy. He just needs a couple more years to learn this system!

People need to get off Trey's back - he's under enough pressure as it is.

I was the guy who thought our offense ran better with Mullens than Jimmy (aside from the Mullens inopportune turnovers) so you ragging on Jimmy does nothing to me.

You can't say this without seeing how he plays / how his career turns out. It's possible, and probably likely, too much capital was given up for Lance. But it's also possible Lance turns out to be worth the cost. It's also possible he turns out to be worth far more than what they gave up. Time will tell.

We can't say for sure. Who's to say the Pats wouldn't have moved in front of the 49ers for Jones if we had stuck in our original position? If the 49ers expect that they are picking near the end of the draft because they expect to contend how exactly in that scenario do you acquire a QB if you feel the one you have now isn't sufficient? In a good QB class, it cost the 49ers that much (and imo was the capital they had earmarked for getting Watson before his legal troubles) to move up from 12 and probably felt that in a good QB draft year they'd be unlikely to move up from the late 20's to the top 10 for the caliber of player they were seeking. It was a lot of draft capital used, but it was absolutely necessary imo.

If Jimmy is still healthy on the team and there is a fair competition, no way Lance beats him out.

Until he gets hurt again.

Oh poor baby, multi millionaire after being picked 3rd at the age of 20, drafted in the perfect scenario, while throwing less than 300 times, then given the reigns to the greatest nfl franchise.

We all should be smited with that kind of pressure. He should be able to handle the pressure. If he can't take it, find another career.

"The concerns that were shared with me stems from last year in training camp," Lombardo continued, "last year when he was able to practice during the regular season. But quarterbacks do make those big leaps from year one to year two. ... I think that's the sort of leap that the 49ers have to hope Trey Lance makes in his second year."

GTF up outta here

Most of the crowd in n out of here was saying this s**t last year.... matt lomBIMBO got nothing new

I would like to see Garoppolo moved before the season starts. However, If he winds up staying as #2, Lance should be able to handle the pressure of being the #1 with a quality #2 behind him. If he can't, there is a problem. I don't believe you dump JG for a bag of chips because you are afraid of hurting Lance's feelings.
Don't agree much with Grant but dude isn't wrong here

I can say this because I didn't want to trade up for any of them. Don't get me wrong I like a few of the QBs and think all 5 can win some games especiallyif they were with Kyle. I'm just not one that believes in franchise QBs.

Well should start believing in franchise QBs because that's what this league is now.

I don't think Lance has complained about a thing…all he's said so far is he wants to be the starter and is gonna so whatever to be that.

mayo is just talking about bull s**t reports that fill up this feed.

No worries

Until we hear negative stuff from and "executive" on the inside and/or "staff members" ....everything is just BS like matt lomBIMBO's news from last year (before the regular season even started. Stale ass news lol

Can people stop giving this guy attention? He's a FanSided "journalist." FanSided is barely half a step above just posting on a forum like this. Stop legitimizing obvious attention-whores.

Thank you!!!

But it's not really. Just a term people use. In this forum alone there were 3 responses all 3 different on what a "franchise" QB is.

Serious question. What is a franchise QB in your own personal opinion?

If Lance starts out 2-4 will fans be happy? That's what McCorkle did as a starter at the beginning of the yr. Will fans be happy losing 4 of their last 5 games and having Lance toss 7 INTs in that time span? That what McCorkle did. The pro Jones crowd needs to remember that when they're b***hing about Lance which they will be
