!!SUPER HOT TAKE ALERT!!

Not at all. The guy was throwing 40+ TD's when a really good season was 20+. It still boggles my mind that people hook 'Super Bowls' upon players as a barometer of their greatness fully knowing that Dan Marino has none.

It was sarcasm, bud. Saying you'd take one of the greatest QBs of all time over a bunch of current QBs is not rocket science.

This whole "we gave up so much for him" argument is conjecture.
But it will be a fun exercise five years hence. Especially if you really want to pour it on.

Starting now, let's put Kyle Pitts in the pile of could've had's.
Next 2 years, we get to take the best remaining player at our Rd 1 draft position and put him in the pile.

Then let each have a couple of seasons to grow.
Probably by 2025, we can make a a more accurate determination if "we gave up so much for him".

Ya we've missed more times than not during let's say....the past 4 regimes. People are over-blowing themselves on the "using 3 firsts on one guy" argument

49ers gave up a lot for him, he's got high expectations whenever he sees the field, the moment he has a bad game, or even a bad throw, the fanbase and media will turn on him without a second thought

Would be the case for any QB picked at 3. They all have high expectations....some fans will be logical about it knowing he just turned 21 and has a yrs worth of college ball under his belt.

1. Athleticism: make off schedule plays with his feet to buy more time to throw and scamper for 1st downs; and
2. Deep ball: It was no secret for defenses to heavily cover the short/intermediate passing over the middle of the field. If he can accurately hit guys deep, then good luck defending because they can't blanket/double cover just one area of the field anymore.

Personally - I feel he is bringing those 2 things with him for sure.

He is really special when it comes to throwing outside the pocket - whether it is on or off schedule. That's one of his biggest strengths. His pocket awareness is also elite imo and he will sense pressure and will move around or outside pocket as needed and make those off platform throws bc he actually has the arm strength to do so.

Secondly - his arm strength is too elite for Kyle to not take advantage of throwing deep. He can def. improve his deep ball accuracy - but to me it's not that big of an issue bc defenses will be playing run and QB spy often enough where our WRs will be one on one with a DB. I fully expect him to hit open Wrs down the field - and with more reps - accuracy will come.

Ppl think accuracy can't be improved - and they couldn't be more wrong.
I'm tired of off schedule play topic. What we need Lance to do is make a play ON SCHEDULE that wasn't supposed to be made by dropping back, going "Oh s**t!" making the unblocked rusher because someone f**ked up, miss AND THEN still get the ball off to where it was supposed to go.

Any athletic crap QB can make off schedule plays. Freaking Wilson does it all the time when he doesn't even need to.

Kyle Pitts doesn't need to be in that comparison because we would never have been in the position to take him if we weren't trading up specifically for a QB. You dont trade what we traded for a 2nd TE.

That's situational. You know how it is around here.
"We coulda picked xyz!!!"
If Pitts is all world, folks will go there. Its sexier than hindsight on Mac or Fields, with the way they "fell".
It's just a mental exercise and I'm spotting them a Blue Chip candidate. Because there certainly won't be a Safety or DL in the (hopefully) late 20's or 30's the next 2 seasons that'll be sorely lamented by their absence from the roster moving forward.
Our WRs flocking to train with Lance, didn't know James went too

Richie didn't actually train at the same time as him...

I guess Garoppolo will be left training with River Cracraft.

And that's a part of what makes Wilson elite in the league and so difficult to prepare for and defend. I do agree that he does it more times then needed though. That said, imagine being the DC and calling the perfect play only to see it go to s**t when Wilson buys that extra time and the WRs are running unscripted routes that the defense had no plans for. Now we can finally give them a taste of their own medicine that they been killing us for years with
It's just speed training. It's not like they are running routes for him.

Wonder why they chose to speed train with Trey and not Jimmy
