100% agree! McCorkle's performance down the stretch of the season was awful and his performance in the first playoff game was the worst of any QB in the playoffs. Dolphins and Bills have both gotten stronger and will most likely finish ahead of Pats. Pats defense which is the only main reason they even made playoffs got worse losing JC Jackson.
Going to be fun to see Lance thriving and McCorkle sucking!
Mac Jones showed that he's a quality starter, he would've led the Niners to the playoffs last year which isn't saying much given that the team has a talented laden roster filled with veteran leadership.
But Lance was the right pick given that he has more upside.
lol he would have failed miserably against the Colts, Rams, and Titans and probably lose to a bottom dweller team like bears, texans, jags, or falcons (remember McCorkle lost to dolphins twice). People underestimate how good that Pats defense was for a stretch in mid season. They were the number 1 defense with the best CB in the league.
Does anyone here actually think McCorkle has a chance to win a super bowl against the elite QBs in the AFC (Allen, Burrow, Herbert, Mahomes, Watson, Midget) or hell even beat out guys like Carr (with Davante) or Tua (with Hill) in the playoffs when it comes down to a high scoring game (highly likely given emphasis on passing/offense in general and recent playoff history-see Bills/Chiefs, Rams/Bucs, etc).
Lance 100% will have a chance to compete with anyone given our elite offensive playmakers and elite arm talent. Will take some time of course but he will right there battling it up with whatever QB you want to name.
The team dragged Jimmy to the NFCCG, so yeah, I think Jones would have rode our defense, run game, and Deebo's awesomeness to the playoffs.
It's also why I think last season was a wasted opportunity for developing Lance.
And despite Jones making a pro bowl, I don't think he'll be an elite QB, his ceiling is Kirk Cousins tier.
