Back to Lance

There has been a lot said about his mechanics and accuracy and his need for retooling, he's been working on it heavily already with this being the first year he's ever had professional QB coaching.

We need to get him on the field to see if these mechanics hold up, the practice field should show a lot.

Jimmy will have to be nearly perfect for us not to see Lance this year.

What's really unbelievable is how people are falling all over themselves about a 20 year old player who has yet to take an NFL snap and has something like 318 plays of experience at the college level and yet are determined to convince themselves that he will be better than any of the touted prospects who have come into the league over the course of its existence and been left on the scrap heap of history, As I have said many times in the past. I don't watch college football at all so Lance is no different to me than Fields or Lawrence or Wilson or that kid from Alabama whose name I have already forgotten, Jones? I hope he plays well because the team gave up so much to get him but I will reserve judgment until I actually see him on the field rather than anoint him for his "potential" He could just as easily be a bust as baller. Time will tell I guess.

Don't be a Debbie Downer, 81 - and just enjoy the ride.

I agree, I don't want to set up myself for a disappointment if he turns out to be a bust. I'm rooting for him to succeed and hope he does.

I don't watch any college football either 49ers81, especially FCS, but I can tell you this kid looks dynamic, I'm excited to see what he and Shanahan can do together. Just looking at Lance's highlights, I can see why Shanahan fell in love with Trey.

Agree , I dont watch college bowls either, but had to make an exception to the QB who most likely will be QBing the 49ers for the next 15 years. What i saw was a young Steve Young with the potential of a Joe Montana kind of processor. Again he could be a bust, but just look at what Kyle did with a noodle armed statue in Nick Mullens. Trey is X1000 what nick Mullens is as an athlete. Rocket arm. Throws 60+ yard passes with ease John Elway style. His mechanics are getting tighter. Wait till he has Bradys mechanics and release. Wow! accuracy will come around as he devotes more time to football. He has everything you'd want in an elite franchise QB. The future looks bright- we shall see.

I like how the telephone game has turned Lance's 318 college attempts (historically low for a 1st round pick) into 318 total snaps (bonkers that a guy could get drafted with ~5 games worth of plays under his belt). Not the first place I've seen this happen, no point really, just thought it was funny

It's no different than MLB drafting a guy coming out of high school. At least Trey has a year of college football under his belt.

Lol I don't even know what that means...comparing CJ winning an MVP to a 19 yr old improving his accuracy is a silly thing to throw out there.

Why does he have to have somebody else's mechanics?? He has Trey's mechanics. AR's mechanics are horrific. Mahommes doesn't even have any, he throws no look side arm in mid air.😆😆 Seriously stop with the mechanics crap. He flicks 55 yarders to receivers in stride and didn't throw a pick his first year. Heeeeeeeeee's fine. R....E.....L.......A........X

Kobe drafted by the Lakers right out of Lower Marion High. He's a football protigy and we have him.

This is historically bad context,...leaving out the way COVID took away his and alot of other players' final year.

How many years have pandemics interrupted seasons in the past?

The #s for draft picks across the board are historically low because many either had half-seasons, or basically no season. Why are you leaving this out when discussing things, as if he really did play in his final year, yet didn't throw the ball?

There are gambles across the board in this draft. Some teams will have scored big,..some will have fumbled it away.

Saying he had 318 plays is simply not true either...NDST had 1,023 total offense plays in 2019. Pretty sure he was on the field for those lol. Just because he doesn't throw the football on every play doesn't mean he's not responsible for what happens on the field either.

I get him not being some 3 yr starter, sure you want that. He probably isn't available at 3 if that happens. All of his snaps in that scheme are actually more meaningful imo then if he played in some air raid offense that doesn't translate to the NFL or this team.
