What's sad is Trey has a strong enough arm to get that 3rd or 4th and 15... or get it closer...
And worse case scenario, run forward to pick it up or get closer.
Or run forward to pressure the defense, and hit someone behind them if they leave their area.
But Kyle wanted to die with Jimmy NO MATTER WHAT!!!!
Kyle knew Jimmy doesn't have the mobility or the arm to make up for that penalty that pushed us back. But Kyle still stuck with him against a stacked pass rush that knows we had to throw the ball... knew we don't have our starting Tackle... and Trent is playing injuried.
Oh Well.

You don't know what Kyle is thinking. Maybe he's just conservative and even with Trey, his tendencies might repeat? You don't know and I don't know either but Kyle has been repeating the same errors and exhibiting the same tendencies.

I really wish they had been able to get more reps for Lance during the season. No matter how this season ends, Lance will be under a lot of pressure when he takes over. If they win the SB he'll be expected to maybe guide them back for a repeat. If they don't he'll be expected to finally get that SB win that they couldn't get with Jimmy. Either way it's not going to be easy for him.
Being pressured comes with the job as a QB. How will Lance perform under pressure and guide his team, because not every win is gonna be a blow out. Lance will take some L's, how will he handle criticism, not every reporter and fan is gonna give him praise. I'm praying this doesn't turn out to be another Alex Smith type situation, then again at least Lance has a veteran offensive HC with a playoff built team. Unlike Alex Smith who had a rookie defensive HC, musical chairs at OC and probably one of the worst defenses in the NFL at the time.
I'm concerned because he had so little experience in college and has very little playing time n the last 2 years. I would feel a lot better if he had at least a half dozen starts under his belt. You have to admit that as fans. we're going in with high expectations based on a very small body of work. I can't remember any 49er QB ever starting a season with so little experience. At least Alex Smith had 2 full seasons in college and played at a higher level of competition.
He won his team a late season must win game against an NFL team. I'll take that over any amount of college experience.
But it was still only one game and he beat an inferior team lets not kid ourselves that Houston had any chance of beating the 9ers. The NFL will get much tougher when you're a full time starter and teams have a full body of film on you.
And he will have super favorable conditions. He wasn't drafted to the Jaguars. He was drafted to the 49ers. He has three receivers. He has a TE. He will have a running game. He has a defense. He has a kicker. He has a playcaller. He can actually make a play when the pocket breaks down. I think we'll be fine. Not saying he'll be a Pro Bowler, but I don't think its unreasonable to expect a winning record with everything that is being given to him.

Some would argue that Kyle was too aggressive when with the Falcons in the SB.

Watch the 2016 Falcons. Or even the 2008-2009 Texans.
