But he didnt do enough for me to believe he is ready to start this year. Training camp will obviously be waaay more telling but his accuracy is a bit inconsistant and he is sometimes late on his timing throws

if he looks bad in preseason then jimmy definitely starts

Jimmy should start and the only way he should be unseated this year is if he plays poorly or becomes hurt.

Everyone Niner fan is eager to see Lance play but the reality of this is that we may not see him play regular season until Sept 2022, but that is a good thing. One thing that everyone seems to agree on is that Lance is very raw but extremely talented. In order to create the best odds of success for the organization and Lance - 49ers should let him sit and develop him for at least 8-10 games.

If he looks bad in preseason then he'll still be better than Jimmy concrete feet. Shanny is using like 50 percent of his playbook with that 1 read, slow processing bum out there

What if trey lance picks up the offense pretty quickly and he looks good in the pre season what do u think happens... Will it take for Jimmy to have a bad game or get hurt for trey to get his chance?

if the coaches feel he's ready then sure. i doubt that happens though.

If Lance clearly outshines Garappolo in preseason and practice then the entire team will see

The NFL is about winning

Players will understand the change if it comes week 1

Right. If Trey earns it he will start. If he doesn't, hopefully Shanahan isn't a moron and he starts Jimmy.

I am skeptical that Trey will be remotely close to ready by week 1.

Even if he does look ready, you don't start him this year unless JG/Rosen get hurt

JG I'll give you.....but Rosen?

If he's ready he's ready and I'll back Kyle on that.

I don't think it will take aslong as people think.
If the Niners struggle they will be playing Lance. They aren't going to risk finishing bottom 15 in the league without a 1st RD pick in 2022. Plus Kyle can't afford another losing season. Jimmy will likely be named the starter week 1 but he is going to have to perform in order to keep that starting job. If he has a week 1 game like he did last season it might be his only start that season. Now if Jimmy struggles abit but they keep winning games Kyle may keep him the start abit longer if he feels Trey needs abit more time but will probally go with Trey around week 8 or so.

I'm sorry but Rosen is not in this conversation, plus there is no guarantee he even makes the team. Trey lance will be the back up Qb and pushing Jimmy.

Pre season is tough to gauge. If Lance looks great against a bunch of scrubs then is that really a good test? Maybe they will let him start a game with and against the 1's.
