He can't even carry Mac Jones jock strap. Based on the whole season of each so far. We don't have to be this delusional.

What's delusional is you continuing to try and compare a guy who was the starter for the whole season to one who was the backup.

Why is somebody the starter for a whole season? While somebody else is a backup.

Interesting question.

^ That's what Trey can do that Jimmy can't.

Because the head coach and general manager went to the owner and got approval for Jimmy to be the starter before they even made the selection. Meaning, it was never going to be a competition, no matter who they drafted and they planned to give it another run with Jimmy while the rookie learns this season.

Stupid question

Stand ready, rook - Jimmy may not make it through the whole game.

That's a dumb comparison because Trey has only played 2 games. Compare Mac's first 2 games with Trey's and see what that looks like

He is still taking major shots at the 49ers for taking Lance over Mac Jones. Mac Jones has done ZERO this season to make me think he's the better prospect.

Mac Jones has had one of the best rookie QB seasons in history. He has been by far the best rookie QB. Will probably have a great career

Lance may turn out great, but it doesn't appear that Shanahan has much confidence in him ... and he would know best

He has confidence in Trey - it's just that Jimmy is the starter this year.

That's a stretch. Mac Jones has 21 TDs and 12 interceptions with 3500 yards passing and a 92 QB rating. His QB rating is below the NFL average, so he's been a below average QB this year. For comparison, Justin Herbert had 4500 yards, 35 TDs and 10 interceptions last year in fewer games. Deshaun Watson, Baker Mayfield and Russell Wilson also had more impressive rookie seasons. Statistically, Mac Jones is about the same as Daniel Jones as a rookie despite having a better organization and supporting cast.

Mac Jones has played at the top end of what one could expect from him as a rookie QB so kudos to him

BUT

to say that Kyle has no confidence in Trey is ludicrous considering what we gave up to draft him OVER Mac Jones and the fact we have an established veteran QB in Garopollo (who has put up identical numbers to Mac Jones this year) that we planned to start this year so Trey could sit and watch and learn ala Pat Mahomes.

It is obvious what we were doing here by keeping Jimmy and paying him before and after the draft. We fully intended to have Jimmy to give it another go while we groomed Trey

Once Trey hits the field next season we will get to see how he stacks up against Mac Jones who everyone knew would be more pro ready year one than Trey who has not played ball in a couple years
