One podcast said of all the rookie QB's, he's played the best but just hasn't played from the start. Not sure if true.

I have heard the same thing. The point was that he has gotten progressively better. The suggestion was even made that the cost of money and image retaining Watson is not worth it. I've only seen him play one game and you could see he had talent but was getting smothered with the pass rush.

Yeah he has looked very good since his 3rd or 4th game. The stats made it look like he wouldn't last a season in the league but he was actually showing some moxie through those rough starts.
He trains down here on Mobile and has a good arm and solid pocket mobility, if his knees hold up he can be a solid starter with adequate protection.
Would have preferred to take him in the 3rd assuming we picked up starters with our first two picks.

With the Texans having the worst three defenses in the NFL, this is a great game for his second start.

Let's see that arm!

One team has 3 defenses?
Texans are going to blitz the hell out of the rook early to rattle him and speed up his mental clock in the pocket really hope we can get the run game going

Shanahan preferred Trey.

And he will make them pay with his legs if they do

A defense that just clowned on supposedly elite QB Justin Herbert. Games aren't played on paper. Texans defense looked good last week

Justin Herbert has been pretty hit or miss this season. He's had some really great games and then some down ones where he looked like a lost rookie. I think Lance is in a good position for success against the 29th ranked scoring defense.

I was the first to be frustrated with trey. But he was 4-5 drops a game from having a solid outing. Mechanics need work but if the receivers could hold on to his rocket passes he has a shot

I was hoping we'd get to see Lance this year and now it's time. I liked Jimmy G. He had some good games despite not having protection or weapons at times. In the end, he was inconsistent and hurt a lot. We needed to bring in a future QB. I liked Mills if it meant trading down and getting a CB too.
I liked Mac a lot but more with a small trade up since he was limited physically. I thought Shanny would pick him anyway at 3. After the fact, he's a better fit in NE offense. I didn't see Lance as much since he only played one game. I was afraid he was just a raw strong armed running QB. I looked into him more after we drafted him and was excited to he will likely be a QB first who can also run. I could see how much that could potentially stress the D.
We heard some good and bad from camp and it was best to sit him much of the year to make sure he was ready. I was really disappointed in his Arizona game where he was just that running QB. There were a few promising plays too. Later we find out his finger was an issue still and that he's looking good in practice.
I'm excited to see how he looks now. I'll be happy if he looks good and disappointed if he still looks extremely raw.
I'm hoping Shanny views himself as new emperor saying, Now Witness the Firepower of this fully Armed and Operational Battle Station.
Reality is even playing limited as a rookie, the offense could be extremely difficult to defend. There will be no time for defenses to adjust going into the playoffs.
They could surprise. From the front page, the 49ers are sitting 40 to 1 to win the SB.
It's still not likely but worth a $20 bet. Go Lance!
It's time!!!!!

People are penciling Trey in as the de facto rest-of-season starter way too quickly IMHO.

Apparently Colt McCoy and Stafford played through the same kind of injury Jimmy has. To already say Jimmy is out for a game, let alone the season is premature.
I just hope he isn't still throwing all those high throws which can easily be intercepted.
KS and JL future here hinges on if Trey Lance is the real deal or not.
The only pisser is Jimmy hurt again now. I feel bad for the guy although I've wanted a change before 2019 SB. It just sucks that Trey is stepping into this spotlight right at playoffs. He is allowed to have growing pains but due to timing if we don't make playoffs or one and done (which probably would have happened with Jimmy) then Trey will get all the off season heat and b******t which is just wrong.

It really irks me Jimmy hurt again. And this time the timing is the worst. Just hope this place doesn't hammer the kid if miss steps happen along the way. He's owed more time than this situation he's being thrown into.

I just can't believe (well I can) that f**king Jimmy G appears to have yet another major injury. Just unreal.

Go Trey. A lot of us have your back no matter these outcomes coming our way.
