Los Angeles Chargers QB Trey Lance Thread

With the Texans having the worst three defenses in the NFL, this is a great game for his second start.

Let's see that arm!
I feel bad for Trey because he is just being throw into the fire in such a high pressure situation. His 2nd career NFL start is a must win game and he is 21 years old who sat out all of last year due to no fault of his own and he hasn't had a single snap this year since week 5 I believe. I hope the fans are patient despite how huge the game is and don't go into a complete panic and start calling him a bust if he doesn't live up to the unreasonable high standards. Remember this is his 2nd career NFL start. I would love to see him light it up vs the Texans but I am not going in with those expectations. Let's just enjoy the process and the bright future. By the way I still think we win this game, Even if he is not lighting it up.

He's playing at home against a subpar defense with all of his top receiving threats healthy. This is about as good as it gets for a rookie passer.

Feel bad for Trey?

Every NFL player wants to start. This is a dream come true. Keep in mind Wilson, Lawrence, Mills, Fields, Mac are all starting. Wilson is running for his life so is Lawrence. Lance has the best LT, the best TE, the best FB, one of the best WR, KS dialing it all up. I don't feel bad for Trey. I feel bad for the Houston Texans and anyone else in our way.

He won a championship at NDSU and is the reigning 2021 CashApp Bitcoin Challenge Champion. He can handle the pressure.

If you drew it up, you couldn't have given Trey a better way to take over at QB. Houston Texans? Wow, couldn't have picked a better team to start against, altho he did get a welcome to the pros in a couple earlier games. They were both wake up calls.

HOU is coming to the game tho, pizzed off because their incredibly talented QB screwed up royally, and it affected all the rest of the team. So that game two days ago, was just a sampling of what they are feeling, and that is to go in and annihilate us. We, OTOH, are looking at HOU as chopped liver…i hope we aren't thinking they will be pushovers….because they won't be.

As for Trey, he is getting his big REAL start, and it sounds like that is on he heels of 4 good weeks of practice. I hope he goes in there and eats HOU alive. Realistically, tho, he will have some struggles, but it is how you get back up off the canvas, not that you were knocked down. He can become a 49er hero for the ages if he can pull off a 6 game win span.

Yes, that's a reach, but what the heck…we're just fans. I want to see Trey kick azz and take names. Forget the rams. Just go for the jugular of HOU. Let the NFL know you are coming for them.

A defense that just clowned on supposedly elite QB Justin Herbert. Games aren't played on paper. Texans defense looked good last week

I just want to see mechanics that are associated with a high-end conventional starting QB, namely what I mentioned. Hanging in there and throwing the ball away if need be (I'm desperate to see our QB throw the ball away, lol)...then make plays with the legs as they are given to him and not forcing it.

I'm talking specifically about frantic scrambling, which I've had enough of in this lifetime.

Mechanics will be off and on until he gets confident in his reads…he can't get confident in his reads until he sees coverages, which can only happen with more live in game reps.

we're not gonna see full field progressions from him. We want to win the game too….give him easy reads, roll outs, bootlegs, run the snot out of the ball and let the kid scramble. Go look at Allen and Watson their rookie yrs.

Why can't they just call a game like kap had against the bears for his first start. Seems that's what youre describing and it worked for kap.

Now ya talking. Good to see you're game planning for Trey rather than just saying he will fail. The first step back is always the hardest
ALL yours buddy !!!!

The future is here!! You the man Baby Face !!!!

GO NINERSSSS !!!

One podcast said of all the rookie QB's, he's played the best but just hasn't played from the start. Not sure if true.

I have heard the same thing. The point was that he has gotten progressively better. The suggestion was even made that the cost of money and image retaining Watson is not worth it. I've only seen him play one game and you could see he had talent but was getting smothered with the pass rush.

MILS - I'm not surprise that this kid is playing pretty well.. I saw him lots of time when he was at Stanford and late last year, you can tell that he's improved.. Don't forget that he's thrown to the wolves w/a very very weak team..

If you compare him to CJ Beathard when he played as a rookie, you can tell that MILS is so much further..

BUT, Mils wont be no thanggggg!! not this Sunday babyyy !!
