Oh, that proves that Lombardi was wrong. Sustroll input.

Wow ok, so mods can call people names?

I'm just going what the media is reporting. I didn't make up these theories.

Hypothetical situation: We didn't draft Lance and chose another one of the QBs with #3. What pick would Lance have gone and to what team?

Falcons at 4, or too either one of the Panthers or Broncos in a possible trade up.

You don't think the Falcons were locked in on Pitts at #4?

Personally, I think it was Trey or Pitts for them from everything I read about it leading up to the draft. Just google it, no secret that they were in love with Trey.

Post draft Ron Rivera suggested that WFT was contemplating a move up for a young QB, but "the suspense was over early". Sounds like it was Lance but who knows how far they were planning on jumping.

They may have bought into the Mac to 49ers at 3, WFT had the 19th pick, so 1 ahead of Chicago, but yeah, sounds like it was Lance, if that's true about suspense was over, cause the first 2 picks were obvious, it was our pick that was the biggest mystery to the draft. Thankfully we took Lance, and not Mac.

So Washington was contemplating a trade with Atlanta? wow. Just got in front of them with that #3 pick.

Just say damn I really wanted Fields or Jones. That's fair, we all get it. We both said drafting Lance would be massive balls and it is. I hope it works out because we will be contenders for 12+ years if so.

The media is full of s**t. Simms took an educated guess and was wrong, but he always said. I don't know. I'm just assuming based on what I know about Kyle. He's always said that and I mean, it's honest.

Lombardi is a jackass. I've seen reports saying it was Lance and Fields, not even Lance and Jones. Who knows, but it's done and over with now. I'm super glad it wasn't t Jones lol

I will say Fields looked like he was pissed and probably had his heart set on coming here. I admire that. I hope he does well except when playing us.

Hey congrats man!

yeah everyone guessed and a lot of them got it wrong...let's move on and enjoy the idea of having a potential top 5 QB for the next decade

Media also said there were no leaks from the 49ers - so how did they know it was going to be Mac Jones?!? Lol

Madden generation.

Study your damn playbook.

Or is he studying it by playing madden

Photogrsphic memory, its all in his head by last sunday.

I really have no issue with a player playing Madden or another sports game, and with fans, when he has free time it's something to do to pass the time. He'll learn the offense by getting reps in practice, some in game, and by watching JG play.

If he wants to compete with Jimmy, he'll definely learn the offense. Endorsements will come, I just hope he keeps his head straight as those 49er checks come in. His first paycheck, he can move his whole family to Atherton next to Joe Montana's house.

Madden doesn't have any completion, that's why I think the game has stalled for a long while.

Yeah Madden's really bland as far as the playbooks, been that way for a while, I could next get the read option with Kap right, never, always got tackled in backfield. It's been so bad, I sub to EA's Play Pro on PC for $16.19(with taxes) a month, I can get any EA game that comes out, so I get to play the newest Madden plus every game without having to buy the game for whatever system.

As for Lance, he's a good kid, no way he gets a big head, he seemed so humble, which was one of the things, I forget who said, that was a big thing with him, and like I said he processes everything as fast as any of the QBs drafted this year. Lance isn't a long term project like someone who you draft and have them switch to a position he's never played. But 1yr on the bench learning from JG, will be good, he'll have some special packages for him, so I think he plays some, if/when Jimmy gets hurt, Lance will get time, I think Kyle will give him some reps with the starters maybe during the preseason, camp, etc... to get used to our guys, OL, Weapons, etc...

Agree that Lance isn't a long term project. He does pick things up fast, and in one year he should be ready. Looks like Jimmy isn't going to give him a hard time and will work with him. Like Alex worked with Mahomes. Man o man that will accelerate Treys development. A guy that worked and trained under Tom Brady is going to help Trey. man o man Trey is going to play lights out, if he absorbs how Tom trained and played.

I'm just laughing @ ppl on this board who are still trying to convince themselves that 49ers would have drafted Mac Jones at 3 but caved to fan pressure.

Lol how arrogant of them!

Lol it's quit possibly one of the dumbest things I've read in here.

Mac was never gonna be the pick and it never made sense. They drank the kool-aid and like most of the media need to take the L and be glad we got a special talent....I was on the verge of accepting that they might take Jones, but it NEVER made sense.

Hey congrats Cisco! I became a dad last year and it's the best thing ever. May not get much sleep first few months but all worth it.

It's the ppl who believed Mac Jones is worthy to be a 3rd overall pick who are having a rough time that no one traded up for Mac Jones even when he fell to teens.

So yall are seriously hanging your hat on what Michael Lombardi says?

He literally said 98% of the NFL thought we'd draft Mac Jones. That math don't add up son!!!

They ran him out of Oakland after he help select Jamarcus Russell
They ran him out of Cleveland after 2 short years of being GM after he drafted Jonny Manziel, Barevious Mingo, Justin Gilbert with his first round picks
Still see there's some guys in here butt hurt we didn't take Mac Jones. What a f**king joke people would rather have taken a guy no one would've taken in the top 10 who doesn't possess the talent the other guys have but would still take him as their qb

Have they not payed attention to the film????? Ha has to put everything he has into 25-30 yarders. 99 percent of his throws are short. On the 5 plays last year where protection broke down he couldn't do anything. He's a second round talent

Straight from lynch's mouth

You aren't f**king with me, are you?

But yes. Lance from the start.

Do you understand the context of that conversation AT ALL? Do you know that Lynch and Kyle never shared their preferences? Lynch was ECSTATIC they both loved the same guy.

So yes, Lance from the start. Got any more brain busters for me?

Yeah I can see the meeting now..

Lynch: WHo do you like, Kyle?

Shanahan: I'm not going to tell you now. How about you?

Lynch: I'd rather not say either. Hey why don;t we surprise each other right before the draft??

I'm going to chose my words carefully here so as not to get dinged by the mods but...

You need to work on your reasoning/reading skills.

It's not difficult to follow what happened considering the press conference is readily available to get full context.

BEFORE they made the trade up Kyle was highly impressed by Lance "I'm getting obsessed", he shares the breakdown of Lance with Lynch so he can get his thoughts on him. Lynch loves him as well.

They don't give their takes on Lance to anyone else in the building. They get the go ahead to make the trade up for a QB without telling Jed or anyone else in the building who they're targeting.

I hate to use a fictional movie to make a point but did you watch Draft Day? Cleveland makes their huge trade up to #1 for Bo Callahan. They then spend the rest of the day looking for any reason not to draft him. In the movie they find that reason and take the guy the GM liked in the first place at his original pick.

We moved up for Lance and then knew they could freely check all the QBs without hiding the fact they were looking at QB. That includes potentially finding holes in Lance's game/person to change their pick to one of the other QBs, or potentially falling in love with one of the other QBs.

Obviously in the end they picked the same guy who they fell in love with in the first place.

All of the Mac Jones talk was people speculating on what Kyle would do. Yet everything logical pointed to it NOT being Mac Jones.

These are facts or at the very least reports which have not been denied by us.

49ers realized they were limited with Jimmy G at QB and wanted to draft his replacement
Rams, who run a similar offense as us, realized they were limited with Jared Goff and basically paid extra to get rid of him for a Matt Stafford
Kyle's takes on QBs recently have all mentioned how his QB evaluations have changed and if he had his say he'd get the biggest, fastest, most athletic QB with the biggest arm and ability to run as long as he could play in the pocket.
We missed out on Mahomes/Watson because we were looking ahead to sign a limited QB like Kirk Cousins
QBs in the Conference Championship games last year - Mahomes/Allen/Rodgers/Brady

Yet people really want to pretend after all of that we gave up all that to get to #3 overall to draft a POSSIBLE slight upgrade over Jimmy G???

Sure...
