Ha okay doc…where's the inside source on that? No need to throw out stuff like that when you don't really have a clue about it.
What makes you think he is OK? He is missing time with a knee injury after his first start.
Worrisome
I don't know whether his knee is more serious than they thought or whether they're just being careful. Jimmy was going to be the starter in either case. Trey played the entire game and said he didn't even know it was injured until that night. Based on that, I have to think the injury wasn't too serious.
If it's not too serious but he continues not to practice after a bye-week and then is, inactive on game day, again, he might have a grade 1 MCL sprain which usually requires a few weeks to heal those microtears. That would mean he's ready to go next week.
Lance was diagnosed with a left knee sprain from his Oct. 10 starting debut
That doesn't tell us much. There are sprains then there are sprains. Everything from minor annoyance to I can't get back on the field for weeks.
Agreed but what do you think a knee sprain is? It could be a grade 1 sprain to the ACL, PCL, MCL, etc. Knee cap, deep bone bruise, etc. But usually any kind of sprain is a grade 1 and is just a few weeks. So this weekend will give us insight into that.
However, Shanahan was less sure about the status of his rookie quarterback and Garoppolo's backup, Trey Lance.
"He might have a chance at the end of the week, but I'd be surprised if he's not ready to go until next week," Shanahan said of Lance.
Lance has not practiced this week and was not on the practice field with his teammates at the start of today's session.
