Yep, they need to let Trey play and live with the results. Starting Jimmy is a waste of everyones time. The skill players and linemen that are in the teams future plans need to get chemistry and timing with Trey. Why put off for a year what can be started now? Plus, this team isnt contending for a super bowl this year. Lets be honest.

I basically showed you examples where your question means nothing. Mahomes is still Mahomes whether he sat or not…you can't convince me otherwise. Reid played McNabb yr one all the same.

IF sitting a player meant success in the future then every single damn team would have benched their rookie…yet damn near all 1st rd pick QBs have played over the course of two decades at some pt yr1.

There are too many things to consider here and it's not so black and white like it is with other teams that draft a QB early.

In most cases the team sucks, there's no other good QB on the roster, and you gotta appease your fans. This wasn't our case though, since we looked like a good roster on paper and we have a QB that proved he can win games.

I had no problem sitting Lance for the whole year. That doesn't hurt him at all long term, even helps in some sense. And once they went with Jimmy in TC, it was obvious Jimmy isn't gonna get traded and no way do you pay a guy 25 mil to sit on the bench.

Now things have turned a bit sideways and it would be in the teams best interest to start Trey going forward. Jimmy just can't stay healthy and you can't keep switching back and forth between these two QBs bc the gameplans are so different for both. It affects the whole team chemistry, at least on offense when you have such different players playing QB.

Outside of Goatie, everybody knows that Jimmy is gone next year, so it's time to just go with Trey for the rest of year and deal with the growing pains now.

One thing we have to keep in mind about whether to play Trey this season is the status of Jimmy. We all pretty much know that he's a lame duck QB since his contract next season makes it likely he'll get released or traded. It's not like they drafted Trey for insurance. They drafted him to replace JG as soon as possible.

I agree with everyone else that he's far from ready but another loss or two and they're looking at long odds for the playoffs. Then it's time to go full tilt Trey.

Yeah, a couple more loses then it's Trey time.

Good post Catch. I think that sums up that scenario perfectly. I am so excited about Lance. He keeps flashing (regularly) elite level stuff. The other NFC West opponents know it is only a matter of time before they have to deal with this monster twice a year. The future (and the present still) is bright.

Yes sir.
Shotgun formation with Jimmy and Trey offset behind center. Let defenses try to figure that out. Have them both bark out different signals to add to the confusion.

The 9ers have a tough decision to make over the the next week or so, play It safe and stick with JG, or risk It all and go with Lance. Personally, I'd go with Lance, especially with how the defense Is playing too. Focus on Improving the run game and we could see a tough, competitive team like the 2019 one.

Agree, I'd go with Trey, but it's probably going to be Kyle favorite, Jimmy.

In regard to the bolded in the post I quoted.
If Lance is good with the playbook does that mean we saw it on Sunday?

I was happy with his play but wonder what was behind the play calling.

What was the problem you had with the playcalling? Too many QB runs?

Just play them both and alternate series like you do with RBs.
