Yea, Jimmy only did it while choking in the 4th quarter of the Super Bowl. He generally doesn't have a ton of passes batted.

I'm sorry… were you trying to dunk on Garoppolo whilst mentioning he was in the Super Bowl?

A lot of people were at the Super Bowl. Jimmy barely did more to deserve to be there than the people in the stands. That's been increasingly validated, because as soon as we don't have a top 5 defense or running game, Jimmy has become one of the worst 10 QBs in the league. A ton of s**tty players have been carried to the Super Bowl over the years.

I can't count how many times Patrick Mahomes or Russell Wilson on these time of plays press the line of scrimmage to suck in the defenders, take a step or two back to buy an extra second and lob a pass over them for an easy TD.

It was fourth down.. so I don't blame him for not chancing a random dropped pass.

I do blame him for not diving for the pylon, instead of going head first into defenders. 😐

Yep that was super dumb by Lance. Just go up and over and extend the arms it's a 100% guaranteed EASY touchdown.

Zero reason to tuck ball in close to the body it and go low there.

Sadly that was the difference points wise in the game. 17-17 if he just extends arms over the goal line.

Start him the rest of the way. We can beat the Colts and Bears with Lance while he gets two more game experiences under his belt.

Trey needs to quicken/shorten his release for the short passing game to be effective

The issue isn't the release, its his eyes -a problem common to rookies.
I think it was a nice start for the rookie. He flashed several times passing and running the ball. He 100% has to conitinue to work on touch and accuracy but I think many on here are going a little overboard on the negativity after 1.5 games. He's improvisational running is actually far better than I thought it was. However, I nearly cringed at every designed run that was called.they were all wayyy to predictable. Also, our wr have to learn to scramble. He got out of the pocket 3-4 times and rolled around the corner and I thought we had a Russell bomb situation about to happen, but sure as s**t every time our wr were blanketed. You have to get open in these broken plays. Russ has made a hall of fame career out of either completing bombs on these plays or an automatic PI.

Side note. This was some of the worst officiating I've seen in years. The league basically doesn't call holding anymore and we had about 80 yds worth of holding penalties. Then we get blatantly held in the end zone twice and we actually get one flag but it doesn't get enforced as a Safety?????

I can show you the issue with his throwing motion, you can't show anything regarding his "eyes"

Anyone who thinks Trey looked bad hasn't been watching the other rookies. f**king idiots 🤣🤣🤣

Other rookies show promise. Name one pass play that Trey impressed. I can't. Not one.

Where was the deep sideline pass? Oh yeah the one to deebo that was out of bounds. I like the kid, good kid, but he's not accurate. He's not a qb. You can't teach accuracy. No touch and no accuracy. The worst combination.

Are you serious? He made multiple big boy passes. That laser to Aiyuk on 3rd and long. That beautiful throw to Sanu as well on the flat. You are tripping.

Ive been Watching football for 40 years. I know a good qb when I see it. He ain't one.

Oh?

Your 40 years informed you that Mahomes was another kaepernick.

GOODNIGHT

I have never heard of Mahomes. Who is she?
I'm very excited for our future with Trey. Didn't let that Int get to him. Looked in control and poised all game. You can't teach that.

You aren't going to develop him sitting on a bench. It doesn't work that way.

Steve Young was mediocre in Tampa Bay, came to SF, and watched behind Montana. Aaron Rodgers sat behind Favre. Kaepernick and Mahomes both sat behind Alex Smith.

Peyton Manning started every game for the Colts in his rookie season because he was possibly the most NFL ready QB, maybe ever. Not every QB is gonna be like him or Justin Herbert. Alex Smith has said himself he was not ready to be starting in his first year.

Starting Trey Lance this year means that Shanahan is going to have to have him doing a Running QB gameplan, because that's his best bet to succeed this year. He wants Trey to develop his skills as a pocket QB. If that's the gameplan every week that the team is doing under Jimmy, he will learn a lot from observing.

And he can do that without the pressure of having to be The Guy.

A lot to like for sure

Exactly. That trade will get Shanahan and Lynch fired if Lance busts, and I'd put the odds on that at 50%. He will eventually be hurt if he continually runs like he did today, so he's going to need to be smarter with sliding and 50% completion rate isn't going to get it done. I saw some good things too, though, so I'm not writing him off. I hope he can show steady improvement each week and Kyle can do a better job of play calling for Lance also. Crap trade, but not Lance's fault about that.

He runs like he did today he will be living in an ice bath

At this stage being his first start and the fact he has only played 3 halves of football plus a few reps he is playing where someone with that amount of NFL experience should be playing. He is not setting the world on fire and nor should people expect him to. He would have learned a ton.

But with a 51% completion rate, accuracy issues and feel issues he is not at the standard needed to be our starting QB at the moment. It was a tough game and he certainly could not be called a bust.

He needs more time to develop and let us all know whether he can go to the next level as his potential is pointing to.

At the moment JG is still miles ahead. He will be keeping that job all this year and I still expect him to have the top job next years Despite the logic of The Gorer lol
