Los Angeles Chargers QB Trey Lance Thread

And screw comparing Trey to Jimmy. They are different type of players and one is also a rookie and the other a vet. Jimmy is gone after he season it's time to let Trey learn in a lost season.

Thought he looked ok considering he's a 21 year old rookie. But why are his throws so wobbly? Is there a reason for this? Can it be corrected?

Just barely a 50% completion avg. That's not going to get it done in Kyle's offense. Hopefully that is something that can be improved upon. I would hate to see him become one of those guys who can put up decent numbers because of his ability to hit the occasional long ball but can't make the underneath game work because he can't hit a 10 yard slant when he needs to. Time will tell I guess. Interesting to see how many people in here are already willing to bag the season just so Lance can get more playing time. 'The Faithful'. Not much I would say.

That's exactly what he is right now. And that's not a sustainable way to win games. Part of the reason I thought Mac was a better fit for Shannahans offense is the short and intermediate game. Where Trey throws high, hard, wobbly, behind, etc…Mac his a lot more accurate. Yes, some are catchable, but the goal is to lead the back or receiver and get them moving forward. Trey threw an easy one in Deebos back hip….those and the quick slants should be automatic pitches and catches. I believe that's a big part of the reason Kyle doesn't trust him to throw in short yardage situations.

You need to go and watch some Kap tape. That is what you call ready and not this s**te!! Go and watch his first start against the Bears and tell me you were wrong cos you had dirt in your eyes.

Bro, learn to be objective. Trey Lance is a longgggggg way from being ready. Jimmy might not be the second coming, but if you still relish any slight chance of winning more games, then Jimmy is your man and not Trey. Trey will sink the ship.

They both aren't good enough to bring this team anywhere meaningful this year.

We can handle Jimmy's limitations and mistake riddled play and still win games with a dominant run game and defense. We don't have those things. It isn't 2019. Our defense has been mostly good, but not like 2019 and our run game is busted and being sat on by defenses.

If Mitchell can run the ball and if the O-line can run-block better, Jimmy might still have a chance to win some games. But, with Lance? Not so much.

But, if you are writing off the season, then you can do whatever you want. In any case, the team is unwatchable now, I stopped watching half way into Q3.

My prediction is the 9ers will return to the pre-2019 basement especially if Jimmy is not here anymore after this year. Lance is an unknown, there is no telling he will pan out. But, one thing for sure, you can tell he will need a ton of time before he will have any chance of being ready. He claimed he couldn't see Mitchell when it could have been an easy TD, instead he ran into a brick wall and got stomped at the goal line. That is not a good sign.

This is nothing personal. I had high hopes for Lance, but your eyes don't lie. It is what it is. The kid is just not ready. This is 180 degrees from Kap's first start. Kap is a fair benchmark in my opinion.

when you're throwing wobbles, it means that you either not holding the football on the laces or you are holding the laces w/the wrong fingers..

the problem with this is that the ball slows down before it gets to the target..

I think he throws his balls too damn hard

True but Trey also cost our next two 1st rounders and a 3rd. He will be held to a much higher standard

Congrats. This is dumber than Kap 2.0 thread. I honestly thought it was not possible to say anything dumber.

He wins!

I guess that explains why you're rooting against him.

This.

Confirmation bias and will only see through that negative lens he just acknowledged.

As many others here I'd speculate.

Stay the course. Start Jimmy once he's healthy, compete for playoffs, see how far we can go. Develop Trey behind the scenes. That's really it.

You aren't going to develop him sitting on a bench. It doesn't work that way.

Why do you continue to talk about kap I'm here???kid played for a completely different team with a power run scheme on an all time roster. He also came before the league had a handle on running quarterbacks that is why he was amazing for about two years. Was it fun? Absolutely loved every minute of it. Bottom line is he didn't progress at all zero zilch and that is why he isn't in the league. By the end it was very apparent he was dog s**t at playing professional quarterback.

Anyone who thinks Trey looked bad hasn't been watching the other rookies. f**king idiots 🤣🤣🤣

Other rookies show promise. Name one pass play that Trey impressed. I can't. Not one.

Where was the deep sideline pass? Oh yeah the one to deebo that was out of bounds. I like the kid, good kid, but he's not accurate. He's not a qb. You can't teach accuracy. No touch and no accuracy. The worst combination.

Are you serious? He made multiple big boy passes. That laser to Aiyuk on 3rd and long. That beautiful throw to Sanu as well on the flat. You are tripping.

Ive been Watching football for 40 years. I know a good qb when I see it. He ain't one.

Oh?
