4 times in this game the 49ers had a penalty on first down that put them at 1st & 15/20

They had a 2nd & 15 turn into a 2nd & 25 as well as a 3rd & 7 turn into a 3rd & 17

If Kyle changes the playcalling as if Jimmy is back there? then yes I wouldn't mind it.
Why would he do that? They drafted Trey to open things up, not keep them the same. Additionally, Jimmy's strengths are getting the ball out fast, which is arguably Trey's biggest weakness.
I agree that I hope what we saw today is not indicative of the future. I expect explosive, downfield throws with optional QB or even designed QB runs sprinkled in. I don't want to see the Arkansas Darren McFadden wildcat that we saw today again.
Rookie qbs especially one like Lance with not the most experience isn't going to see the field like a vet like Jimmy and get the ball out quick. It's just a learning curve. Nothing today scared me about Lance, I know his accuracy and reading of the field will improve in time. I'm not worried, I like the kid I just want f**king Kyle to stop treating him like Cam Newton and running him to and early career decline

That's because he's not good. It's just a different kind of not good than the raw rookie.

Refs had no problem looking the other way when Armstead was held in the endzone.

Trey Lance will be the 4th-youngest QB to make his 1st career start in the Super Bowl era (since 1966).
— ESPN Stats & Info (@ESPNStatsInfo) October 10, 2021
He'll be 1 day younger than Alex Smith was in his 1st career start for the 49ers.

Let's keep perspective, Chandler Jones and J.J. Watt are a handful. Holding penalties against them are going to happen.
Some plays, our oline got beat and that sucks. But not sure if they happened on those four specific plays, but I feel there were some holds committed because Trey left the pocket too early and our lineman had to do it to protect him.

Reminds me of Kaepernick's throw on the run to Boldin in the NFC game vs the Seahawks. I know that's going to trigger some people but it's an impressive play lol

Why do I feel like we're the only two people saying this?

I wouldn't say that. 41 against Detroit, 28 against GB. We've been inconsistent but it's too early to call off the season and blow games with a rookie who does things like make the wrong call at the goal line. He's a rook it's fine but we probably beat both Seattle and Arz with Jimmy. We just haven't scored at all.

Last I checked Jimmy scored almost 30 when he played his last full game with no running game , and it wasn't his best game, and still put them in position to win.
Look Lance is a nice kid. He's a linebacker playing qb.
Here is Josh Allen's rookie start. So much better than Lance. Lance is confused inaccurate and has no touch. Sorry. You don't improve on the latter two no matter how much you practice.

I tend to agree with this sediment.

They've taken the ball into their opponents territory on 10/15 drives that Trey Lance has been under center this season
The offense has clearly moved the ball better with #5 at QB
10 points is 10 points. It's encouraging for the future but for now you play the vet.
the offense had mitchell to get some oz yards. jimmy had nothing.
