The Niners are not Super Bowl contenders. Never were this season. And for sure never with the other guy steering the ship. Not to mention, he's a divisive presence in the locker room.. I've been an advocate for getting rid of him before the season started. He's eating up too much cap space. Of course some here feel that's not important..

I hope that Trey blows up against Arizona and disappoints all you haters. And if he doesn't . . . so what? As long as it doesn't kill him, it'll only make him better.
I hope that Shanahan has the balls to turn the page. Although the way that he's handled almost everything this season, it makes me wonder.

I know everyone will want to feel good about the team and be optimistic about the teams direction but this will go down as one of the worst blunders in football history. Niners played themselves hard this time.

As you can see, I found a post saying he will be a bust. It took me about 4 minutes using a google search to find this. I'm sure there are many other similar comments. Talking about "making s**t up" lmao the irony is absolutely stunning.

There were people in the gameday thread calling him a bust and then these posts after the game was over

I think you're confusing being competent enough to threaten a defense with being worst in the league at something. We've seen former defensive backs say that it matters on how they cover if they fear the QB being able to beat them deep — in discussions directly related to how they'd defend Jimmy.

We also had Frank Clark's post-Super Bowl rant about it.

No one is asking for the 49ers to be the GTSO. They're simply asking for the 49ers to not be the literally least dangerous down the field passing team.

Great. You continue to miss the bigger point. 1. Being Kyle and his proven 85% and 2. We don't have air yard receivers and haven't had healthy ones all year.

My point: should we suddenly expect more "balance" today with Trey? Do YOU expect much higher air yards? State it now and keep that balance of energy going forward now.

PS: It was never about the QB.

He can't look much worse than Zack Wilson looks right now and other rookies have looked most times.

I'm not that concerned about how he looks. It's his first start against a good team so I don't expect much. He just needs to get the experience. I'm sure there will be a glimpse here or there of his ability but there will certainly be a lot of struggles as well.

I don't know. I think that's a pretty small sample. Those posts are outnumbered 20-1. The posters look like they are from other boards anyway.

Trey is the youngest and least ready rookie qb, but that's not hating. That's just how it is.

He's also 6'4" 230 and can deliver a footbal 70 yards downfield pretty well. Is that enough?

No, but we've set aside a couple years in the calendar to get him across the finish line.

If it works out nobody is going to give a sh&t about three mid first round draft picks.

If it doesn't Lynchie is ka-plooshed, kyle becomes OC, and mikey becomes head coach and executive director of football operations.

For once life is simple.

i think it will work out with trey.

Just not this year. Even if we win today.

The sense I'm getting from Ian Rap this morning is that we might not even be giving Trey a chance to win the starting job permanently today

Maybe we're just putting that out there to lessen the pressure on Trey? Or so that switching back to Jimmy wouldn't be as awkward? No clue.

I'm willing to wait for Jimmy to leave. That's the only way Trey will stay the starter with Kyle convinced Jimmy is the better option.
