Hoping Lance shows us some potential tomorrow would be nice too.

Absolutely…people give me s**t for not calling out Kyle but he gets blame for 2 things.

1. thinking the answer was Kirk and not even sniffing Mahomes/Watson with the 2nd overall pick.

2. Paying Jimmy after 5 games, then sticking with his okay/avg play and depending on him to play consistent football/stay on the field. It's burned this team for multiple seasons and no one should objectively think Jimmy should have eaten up $110M worth of cap space over the course of 4 yrs…if that's any other player people would be having a fit.

I blame Kyle and the FO for doing all that.

Still pissed about the first one, as you are well aware. Mahomes was ugh. Not gonna do it again.

Whats funny is, if we went with brodies idea and splurged on a 3rd string QB, hed probably be the same one jumping on lynch for not using that money on another position of need.

Bingo

Not a splurge when you draft 21 year old with 300 snaps in 1-aa ball 1 year ago and <50% in preseason 4 picks 1 sack every 7 drop backs. Facts.

4 picks? The f**k are you on? He threw ONE INT to 3 TDs. With an NFL leading number of drops.

Trey has potential but he is not there yet. He still has to prove himself. I hope he does but I do not think it will be against Ari this Sunday. I will be happy if he proves me wrong.

This is why I am not on the Jimmy wont be here next year bandwagon. Trey is still unproved and until he starts balling out regularly and stops looking raw I am of the view Shanahan and Lynch won't be trading/cutting JG.
Steve Young on Lance: 'I came away wanting to see more'

Well, this Sunday you can see more.

Well yea but this generally holds for all rookie QBs with zero starts. Not there yet and have to prove themselves.

As a QB it's kinda hard to prove yourself via backup duty.

And all sorts of things can happen that are not expected to happen in football. He could be a total bust when reading defenses, he might not improve his passing accuracy or keep firing out missiles rather than developing a feel for passing. He could also get injured which is a real possibility until he develops situational awareness in the NFL. Given the 49ers history with injury I would be bold enough to state that Trey is not immune from injury and indeed is more vulnerable to it until his situational awareness is up to speed.
This is going to be Trey this weekend!

Hopefully not.

Don't want to rely on s**t like that.

Sure. He could also turn out to be a fantastic QB, and the best we've had since Young.

Two obvious things Trey needs to do (Don't know why Kyle lets that s**t happen)

Trey, tuck your f**king shirt in so defenders don't have anything extra to grab.

Trey, protect the ball when you're running, even if you think no one is around you.... tuck it in.

I think this is the game where Trey throws a rope down the sideline for Ayuk to go get or a PI.

I was not writing that possibility off either.

There's a reason Kyle traded up for Trey....imo, Kyle sees him as the potential ultimate QB.

A QB that can play in the pocket... protects the ball/doesn't throw many INTs.....and can extend the play if need be. Elite arm strength. Good character.

Sure Wilson has shown most of those abilities, but Trey is 6'4 and 230. There have been plays this year, actually this past week, where it seemed like Russ couldn't look over his line...when the pass rush started swarming him....and just turtled up. Maybe a seasoned Trey can still make a pass in that scenario.

Some get offended when others compare Trey to certain QBs.

He "looks" like Kap because of the skin tone with tats and Size...Strong arm. Confident... can take a run to the house.

He "looks" like Watson because of playing with his jersey untucked, having a single digit # close to #4, and moves/shows agility around the pocket JUST like Watson...and runs just like him, even keeping the ball out exposed. Seriously watch Watson running around highlights and it looks like Trey.

But also looks like Josh Allen...

But forget all that... if Kyle can get a QB that can hit every part of the field... and also compliments Kyle's own dangerous running game, by keeping a defense honest.....protects the ball, like Trey did in college.....runs for key 1st downs when needed (like Kap would, and Mahomes does now)

If Trey can show the ability to stay healthy (and protect himself, which he needs to work on)... Kyle could be happy for a long time.

Imo this is why he wanted Jimmy starting for as long as possible. Wanted to make sure Trey was ready, before being throwing out there. This is a long term thing for Kyle. If Trey can be the type of QB Kyle thinks he can... then it won't matter in a few years if don't have an elite defense..or elite running game. We will have a pretty good chance to win on any gameday.
