Agree that he is too raw to start, but i don't doubt that he can catch on very fast from just the mental perspective of play calls and basic boot plays etc.

Where I think he will take a bit more time is just playing with faster, stronger, more football intelligent players who can fool you with their athleticism as well as their brains. The speed of the NFL will take a bit of time for him to get accustomed to.

He'll be playing against Fred and that 49er defense every day in practice. I hope that accelerates his development the way Josh Allen and all those other college players who had flaws in their game, but once they got better coaching, became super stars.

lol what? Just because NDSU ran more snaps from under center than most colleges doesn't mean Lance can run 50% of Kyle's incredibly complex playbook from day 1. He has only attempted 318 passes since high school. Most college QB prospects have over 1,000 entering the draft. He is the most raw, inexperienced young QB ever drafted in the 1st round.

I definitely think he can catch up, but he needs to sit and learn for this entire season for sure. He's incredibly smart, so let him study this year and get in on a few plays designed for him to get his feet wet. We should follow the exact blueprints the Chiefs used with Alex Smith and Mahomes.

I think he probably has memorized the entire playbook by now, with that photographic memory.

But read my point again, *from a mental point of view* -- in other words he probably mentally understands the basics of Kyle's offense already. The run game is a no-brainer the boot pass and naked keepers are a big part of kyles offense, and he's done a lot that at NDSU. The more advanced concept play is where he needs the reps and practice. But he doesn't have to go as far as a QB who's never taken a snap under center would have to go. That was my point.

Would be fun to have jimmy and trey be both under center on the same snap. Turning into play action one heading to right hashes one to the left simultaniously. Defense would have to guess who got the ball while deebo crosses behind the LOS.
Unique trickery lol

Dudes favorite player is Tim Tebow lol.
Exciting times!!

Trey will be starting by mid-season. IMO he doesn't have a big hill to climb to supplant Garoppolo.
Any other scenario would be a small disappointment for me. It would mean that he's not as prepared as I think he is.

This talk about a Super Bowl with Jimmy as QB is a pipedream. No chance.

Just had to get in my prediction. Rather than come in later and say I knew all along.

I wouldn't get to excited if he doesn't play this year. If Jimmy stays healthy, we win plenty of games and probably are in the playoffs at least. It is the staying healthy part that is the big if, but it would be ideal if he did. Then we move him next offseason when he has more value.

Not that its a huge factor or anything, but when the late season, bad weather, freezing cold games come, having a QB from Minnesota means that hes used to that weather.
