Yeah except the only qb available at 12 was Jones. So you would have been happy with Jones over Lance.

Except we picked Lance at 3, which Miami wasn't going to do. It changes the whole draft.

This coaching staff with Jones at 12 and two unknown 1st rounders the next two years vs only Lance? Impossible to compare or evaluate. Like I said, once we made the trade I thought Lance was the correct pick.

Ideally for everyone involved - Jimmy stays healthy and balls out this year - and Niners make playoffs. Kyle sprinkles in Lance 5-6 plays a game.

We trade Jimmy in the offseason next year - recoup a 1st rounder and have Lance become the QB next year.

Not worried at all if Lance is basically sitting out 2 years in a row. He's gonna be 22 in 2022 summer. Not uncommon for college QBs to sit out 2-3 years before playing. Not sure why it'll be such a huge concern for Lance.

im kinda torn because on one hand, a healthy jimmy can get us deep into the playoffs, but lance needs live reps.

IT'LL be Green Bay Aaron all over again.. because that will force KS & JL to stick with JG using the excuse that Trey isn't ready yet..

NO ONE is going to like it if JG wins us a Super Bowl and be the league MVP then gets replaced by a 2nd year QB with a very high POTENTIAL..

Can the people Who called shanahan arrogant and that he has a fetish for cousins finally stfu. The fact Mac Jones wasn't even considered by the niners shows that shanahan wants an athlete instead of a robot at quarterback.

If I were the GM (or coach), especially at QB I would always go for the guy with the higher ceiling. I mean, today's NFL is QB-driven, i.e. you draft for a franchise QB, therefore the guy is planned in for at least 10-15 years. There never was a majority of us (49ers' fans) that wanted Mac Jones only a gigantic media blitz trying to force the idea.

A few fans bought into the narrative, but not the majority. Just as many folks (myself included), if not more, wanted Justin Fields (or Trey Lance).

The regime played it perfectly in a manner which reinforces the great faith that many of us have in them.

While it remains to be seen how this ends up I'll lean towards things turning out awesome for the organization.

In the 1st year we could use Trey for certain gadget plays and those goal line and red zone situations we have struggled with at times.

I think we'll do this, the package will start off as a 2nd & short pickup (less risk) then it'll become a 3rd & short and finally RZ.

Will get Trey acclimated and also boost our success in those situations.

I'm so excited for this era of football, Trey is ridiculously talented, but it seems like he'll work just as hard.

When you put that with a great coaching staff and awesome supporting cast the sky is the limit.

So apparently Trey is seeing Colin Cowherd's daughter. Colin recently said Trey had visited his house in March.
