Is this team built for the win now? They looked bad and inconsistent all over the place yesterday.

This isn't a SB caliber roster overall imo...good and can win (possibly get in the playoffs) sure, but I don't think they're as good as you think.

Yes the long-term ramifications are just as important IMO. Quit being so short-sighted, you can't be when you burn a bunch of picks on a young QB. People act like this is the only roster that we will ever have that "is good" like we have Michal Jordon as the QB or some weird s**t. This isn't the last dance, Jimmy ain't that. Lance is gonna have to play and there will be bumps in the road either this yr or next all the same.

I don't even see that much of a downgrade from Jimmy after what we've seen so far from him honestly...They will change the offense up a little to get yards overall under Lance. I expect a s**t ton of running and easy progressions for Lance. IF Jimmy is healthy and Lance isn't a world beater, cool put Jimmy back in and let Lance sit some more. Either way Lance is gonna have to play because Jimmy is hurt....again.

when healthy yes

we looked pretty good till jimmy got hurt the offense was moving the ball and D looked amazing against a good offense. the offense let the D down and i didnt know Jimmy was hurt but that would explain it

As for Trey its clear why we went with Jimmy but overall Trey looked good. Anticipation and Field vision can use some work (i think those 2 first throws was just jitters so i wont blame him for that). What i absoutly loved was his athleticism and when he was out of the pocket he kept his eyes downfield.

Lot to like about Trey but as for this season i dont think Trey will reach that level to overcome some of the injuries. I still think we can make the playoffs (as a WC) both these loses a last second FG and some stupid mistakes (KR fumble) and keeping an injured Jimmy are hopefully those low % issues that wont repeat themselves

I get why people will feel down after 2 losses but if you put them in perspective it isnt that bad

Regarding "win now" mode, once Jimmy's contract is gone the 49ers can do what the Cardinals did and acquire a bunch of veteran stars. So it's not now or never here. Three years from now is "now or never."

You've had the most level headed posts lately, like you're speaking my mind.

I can admit that I bought into the off-season hype, and it's my fault!
Trey was obviously in a tight spot yesterday. He got thrown into a situation where he had few reps with the first team during the week and they were trailing. He was off on his passes and very indecisive. That's all to be expected under the circumstances. He settled down a little as he played more and he showed the one thing that Jimmy will never be able to do. He had the defense worried enough about the run that it allowed Deebo to get wide open for a TD. He also scrambled and was able to pick up yards.

If Jimmy can't play against the Cards we might see Trey for the next 3 games at least. They have the bye and then the Colts and Bears. It's a chance to get him so game experience and let Jimmy heal. I don't know how bad he's hurt but a calf bruise doesn't seem that serious. I'm guessing there are some QBs that would have played thru something like that.

why?
Funny, because it's true.

Might as well start Jake Brendel since Mack has an injured hand, Banks, Moore (with Trent hurt) and Ambry some snaps.

Trey will be alright (not next week) but he'll learn clock and game management, all the nuances of Kyle's offense, etc.

Kyle's not going to hang him out to dry. I expect a ton of runs, screen passes, off schedule drills, short crosses, swing passes, etc. Get him comfortable.

i dont get this either KS has used plent of field stretchers

its never going to be a run n gun offense (which is good) but he has used these players in past he hasnt because that isnt Jimmy strength. Hell i would argue Aiyuk is a field stretcher

He hates Shanahan. He literally puts that in every other post.

It's going to be fun watching Trey progress in this offense. Once Kyle taylor's the offense to Trey's skills, he's going to pop.

There's a long list of QBs that didn't play yr 1 that didn't turn into s**t all the same, I think pointing out a couple best case scenarios is disingenuous.

Going back to Jimmy might not be a thing if he's out for a month or so...but if he can play then fine, they made their bed with him once they gave him all that cash this yr.

Jed signed off on them moving all their chips into Lance and understands that instant success with a rookie QB isn't always the outcome BUT getting through all that s**t can equal long-term success, which should matter way more.

If he's out a month yeah I agree yeah just stick with Lance. And I didn't say he'd turn to sh what I implied was right now Jimmy gives us the best chance at winning. Long term if Lance doesn't play much this year it will not hinder his development.

KS just does not have that IT as an HC.. he does not show the skill to make the players around him better.. poor talent evaluator.. game planning sucks..

the " Injury Jinx " factor...

I've said it before and I'll keep saying it until i'm proven wrong... he is nothing more than a very good OC who rather " Lose Pretty than Win Ugly "

It's going to take awhile but we'll see some flashes. Just watch for growth. That's all we can hope for right now. And health.

Yes it is, that is how the cap and contracts are structured. This is the best Lynch has to give.

If they are a losing team this year and next, do you think Shanalynch are here to finish the rebuild?
Trey will need to work on that long delivery motion he has. It makes him vulnerable to having the ball knocked out of his hand from a backside rush. It also prevents him from getting the ball out quicker which can be the difference between a completion and an INT. I'm guessing it's something they'll address it the off season. He throws like a pitcher winding up instead of a catcher making a quick throw to 2nd base.

Very true. That long wind up almost had a strip sack on a wide open player too. Ended up being knocked down instead. That's another area of mechanics he can continue to work on but when the live bullets fly, young QB's usually go back to their bad habits and comfort zones.
Trey is in a great position to get some starting experience if Jimmy is out for just a few weeks

Best case, Trey looks great and we ride with him to the end of the season.

If he's struggling then we pull him and put jimmy back in when he's healthy again and roll with the "plan was always for Jimmy to start again" excuse. Neither Jimmy nor Trey gets their egos hurt that way and we can build off of whatever his performance was and have him ready for next season.
