We'll see on the field. I'm always skeptical of players leaving teams when that team has that position in need. Rams desperately need a pass rush. It's as if the Raiders reached out to use and acquired AA as their new pass rushing DE.

No it's not like that at all. Rams were pressed right up against the cap and could not afford to keep him. The AA comparison is way off as well. It doesn't really even make sense to say because he would have to be traded and Samson was a FA.

Agree about the Rams cap situation. Also there was a defensive coaching change and possibly Ebukam was no longer a scheme fit for the new Rams DC --- Raheem morris.

The Rams were so tight against the cap that they had to let not just Ebukam walk, but also Troy Hill and John Johnson.

Hopefully this is the year Rams crappy trades and drafts catch up to them.

I'm looking forward to seeing how Ebukam does in OTAs.

Troy hill at 2 yrs $9M was a steal
I'm excited about his athletic profile...it's very similar to hassan Riddick.

Dude has no idea how to use his hands hopefully Bosa will rub off on him. Unless Ford magically comes back I still think we have an issue at EDGE.
Another good comparison for Ebukam might be Shaq Barrett. Their respective stats after four years in the league are nearly identical. In Barrett's fifth year after signing with Tampa Bay he exploded for 19.5 sacks.

Even if he comes back he won't last long. it's an issue until a player emerges. .

Oh I have zero faith in Ford....I've been arguing with a fellow WZer about the lack of talent along the EDGE. Bosa is a monster but he's coming off a serious ACL injury, no way can we throw him out there for like 900+ snaps this yr and outside of him we have a bunch of meh.

I mean that would be something and his best case scenario....I feel like Shaq was more polished technique wise. Most of Samson's production was purely based on hustle or coverage sacks. Didn't really see much of him just beating his dude with technique. He will bring speed off the LOS as a DPR

I agree with you...a lot of unknowns after Bosa and he's gotta be slowly worked back into football shape. An ACL for an ER is no joke. It's going to take time.

Yea it's dam near a major issue. Basically we betting on Ebukam and Arden Key to provide quality pass rush help. Which neither has ever done in their careers. I assume AA will be back at edge on base downs. So we won't get much production there. And like you said we can't put a full load back on Bosa this year. DR gonna have to scheme up more blitz packages with the db's and lb's in my opinion.

Yup, it wasn't a normal ACL either I think their were a couple other ligaments as well....sounds like his rehab is going very very good BUT there's not reason to throw him out there 80% of the time his first yr back.

I love our DT rotation, our EDGE group is pretty subpar IMO.

I'd love to add Houston/Ingram or possibly Vernon (depending on how he's recovered) to the rotation.

I'm fine with AA on base, he's good at setting the edge. He's gotta play inside on passing downs but I don't think he will as much with who we currently have out there.

@ lamontb's point about basically betting on Ebukam and Key for edge help; just the optimist counterpoint is that Hyder ended up better than anyone but an optimist would have predicted too... Ebukam has the athleticism for sure to be a problem off the edge, and we have coaches that have to do their job as far as improving his technique. (Also having Bosa a damn master of hand technique giving him pointers won't hurt. Also Ebukam noting himself that he knows he has to improve on that is a good sign).

Continuing with my typical optimistic POV -- even if we only want to give Bosa 80% of the snaps at one edge, that means we just need 120% of snaps from the three other edge guys (20% spelling Bosa and 100% of the edge opposite him in pass rush situations) -- IE, between Ford, Ebukam and Key we just need them to average 40% of the snaps (at a decent to good level) to have a good pass rush including Bosa, our DTs, blitzes etc. Just an optimists POV, lol. It's not like Ebukam or Key or Ford has to beat his man every time; he just has to be PART of an effective rush group. Maybe we're not top 5 like we were in '19 but I think we still have a pretty good shot at being top 10 in that category.

All that being said I do agree with you NY that I'd be happy to see another Edge like Houston or Ingram added like you said

One thing that's going to jump out to people when they see this dude is how strong he is despite how relatively tiny he is. He's a pitbull off the edge. If he gets his hands inside, which is tough for him because he's not very long or particularly good with his hands, he takes tackles for a ride.
