First rounders are hit and miss anyway, even outside of the QB position. Solomon was supposedly a sure thing and yet he's not on the team anymore. The whole draft is a lottery with the odds *against* the team trying to pick a franchise QB.

Pete Caroll is an average head coach (good defensive coach though). The only thing saving his job was Midget Wilson- and he was Pete's lotto ticket. Prior to him getting Russel Wilson, his longest NFL HC tenure was 2 years.

He's definitely younger than Jimmy.

Per the Shefter interview...

"The Background or Sense I get on Mac Jones is this...He has a great mind, total recall, he is brilliant. I would say for Kyle Shannahan and for Mike Shannahan who loves him also I would say Mac Jones' brilliant mind is something that is Insanely important to them..."

Doesn't make boneheaded mistakes too.

What my gut tells me: Shannys are all in on Mac Jones; 49ers front office trying to get Shanny to reconsider Fields or Lance; Shanny likes Lance more than Fields and might be giving him more consideration.

But in the end, it'll be Mac Jones.

Agree.

Coaches are stubborn creatures. They know what they want and, right or wrong, refuse to deviate from it. It's why I throw everything Shanahan says during pressers or interviews out the window because he can say whatever he wants, but his actions speak louder than his words.

See page 1 of this thread. It's been obvious from the very first game to a bunch of us that Mac Jones is the quintessential Shanahan QB. I feel like people have spent the entire process actively looking for reasons to avoid seeing what's right in front of them. It's not what I want--not that I dislike Mac Jones. I don't. I think he's a baller. But I wanted more from the 3rd pick and still hold onto a tiny slither of hope that Shanahan drafts Fields. But I'm expecting Mac Jones. But it is what it is. Mac Jones has been Shanny's guy in my eyes from the jump, and that hasn't changed during the entire process.

I don't understand why fans take pressers that seriously. Look who he drafts and cuts. Look who he signs. What does he value in each position? I don't care about his empty words.

Show me that he has changed.

Maybe after this draft, fans will finally learn the meaning of "Actions speak louder than words"

Actions > words

That said, he did tell fans 5 years ago why he wasn't into the athletic profiled QB.

This is ridiculous. The shanahan type of quarterback is elect and young. That's why they are in on fields and lance. This Mac Jones bs is just that which is bs. I get it you guys take schefter and maioccos OPINION as fact when in reality it's not. Nobody and I mean NOBODY outside of shanahan lynch peters know who the niners will pick. You want to talk about connecting the dots then how about this. Why did shanahan go out of his way to go fields and lance s pro day and SPECIFICALLY ASK LANCE to work with John beck (who is very close to shanahan)? Why? Because shanahan clearly wants either Justin fields or trey lance. This Mac Jones bs was just a wildfire spread by Chris Simms and people believed it because they think shanahan leaks things to Simms when he in fact doesn't

It was a pretty bleak take on it too. Basically he said athleticism retards a QBs pocket development. Or something like that. With that viewpoint (and i can see how he can come to that conclusion) very slim chance its Feilds and slimmer chance for Trey.

Once again his opinion. Also fields and lance also have a great mind and are mobile which is a trait of a shanahan quarterback

Well I hope you are right and praying you are right 🙏🙏🙏 if Mac is chosen. NY85 and the pro-Feilds folks are entirely correct that NFL speed is *nothing* like College speed. Mac has to adjust to the faster speeds and inches wide windows or he's just another Nick Mullens/BeatHard as far as that goes.
Lol people comparing Jimmy's NFL career vs Macs college career. Mac would be lucky to be as good as Jimmy (he won't be)

He also said he wanted to draft Josh Allen and would have if he had come out in 2017.
