For these athletes it's just more exposure to NFL coaches and decision makers. You only have to impress one team enough to go back and look at your film and potentially change their draft plans altogether.

Not too mention if some bong video, or tweet from 5 years ago etc comes out right before the draft you better have a plan C

There's only one player that has a chance to be taken at #2 and that's Fields. The only due diligence Kyle is doing is being ready in case a great offer to trade back comes along for someone desperate for Wilson at 3 and we have to choose between Lance or Jones.
If Niners don't draft Jones, I see him falling into the 20's. Kyle is the only head coach that doesn't care about his QB being athletic. I don't see Jones as a fit for anybody else. I guess the Pats could take him at 15 if Bill thinks he could have another Brady. I can see a team drafting Mond before Jones.

The intel you keep getting?? What..are you a spy? So you have connections inside the 49er organization? Is their a leak?

Todd McShay has zero contacts.

Is that why he's only co hosting the draft?

No way. He goes by 15. He is not going past NE. Either they take him, at 15, trade up for him, or another team before them takes him. And when did Mond start becoming the hot topic?
Lol Jones being in the young/Manning/Brees convo is delusional

This. I think Patriots want Mac bad. He is about as perfect of a fit for there offense as you can get. Regardless of what QB we take at #3 I think it is very likely that all of the Top 5 QBs go in the top 10 this year.

I think the reason we're showing interest in Fields and Lance is to not get Saleh an LaFlour questioning their plan to not draft Mac, and also get intel on these guys for when one of them fails and hits free agency in a few years like Rosen.

Has Adam Shefter zipped his lips about the 49ers draft selection ever since the "It'll be Mac Jones" fiasco and proclamation. I haven't heard anything since he backpedaled on that:

"Oh, it'll be Mac Jones," Schefter said with zero hesitation during an April 6 ESPN radio appearance

Then on April 11th,

"I think they have an open mind right now," ESPN's Adam Schefter said on 49ers Talk.

"I think they go into this looking at three quarterbacks who will be there. They're obviously going to watch Justin Fields go work out again. I think they have a high opinion of Trey Lance, and I think they have a high opinion of Mac Jones. So I think they like all three."
---------------------

Since then has he made any comments about 49ers picks including any pro-days etc?

He said he still believes the trade up was for Jones today.

He also said it on the 2nd example too but the OP left that out.
If jones was in the 49ers discussion as the pick he would be working out with John beck like Wilson, fields, and lance all are. He is not on their level. Fine pick at 12 when they are gone.

I don't see him getting past 10, but we'll never know

Unless he's the one Shanahan initially liked, and the scouting team convinced him to give the other two a real chance, so he contacted Beck to see how well Fields and Lance can change their game to be more in tune with what Shanahan wants.

And if so, that bodes well, because it seems to be the case that Fields indeed adjusted some of his game due to that coaching. Maybe that's why Shanahan was all smiles there.

Jones has the same QB coach that he's been working with for years in Joe Dickinson, a guy who has been tutoring QB's for nearly 20 years after having been in the college coaching ranks for decades.

After concluding his twenty five years in the college coaching ranks, Dickinson helped tutor young quarterbacks through the Air 7 Quarterback University that traveled throughout the United States. The highlight of the Air 7 Quarterback University (known today as Football University) was the strong relationship with the United States Army All-American Bowl which highlights the top high school athletes around the country.

In 2007, Dickinson was hired to be the Lead Quarterback Instructor at DeBartolo Sports University which conducts quarterback camps and private training all over the country. Since 2007, over 1100 Quarterbacks have been trained by Dickinson, ranging from amateur to professional levels.

I feel like you are saying who cares if Mac Jones is clearly the best processer. I don't know how anyone could feel that way when it is such an important trait to being a great QB.

As has been said, let's say Mac is a 9/10 processor. That doesn't mean fields/Wilson/Lawrence/lance are awful processors. Then you add up areas where Jones is a lot lower than the other guys (athleticism, arm strength), and you come to the conclusion that Jones shouldn't be in the same conversation

First, I am not sure Mac is simply a slightly better processer. IMO I think based on the tape he is quite a bit ahead of the other two in terms of processing. While the other two might be a lot better in terms of Athletism and Arm strength. Processing is not the only thing Mac does better than them. Things Like pocket awareness. Pocket Manipulation. Footwork. Accuracy. Consistency. Decision making. Touch. Throwing while being pressured. And so on. I am not sure there is much outside of Arm strength and Athletism they are better at than Mac. You might be able to make the case for throwing deep but Mac had a better passer rating throwing deep than both. So I am not sure even that would be true.

I wouldn't mind never hearing the word "processor" again. Mac Jones was not born with the ability to understand split coverages. He sat on the bench for two years learning from Sark and Saban, two of the best in college football. Accepting great coaching is not some kind of rare skill.

If there's a good reason people think Lance/Fields wouldn't be able to read defenses given the same level of coaching, I haven't seen it.
