About 50% of Mac's TDs had 20+ YAC. Fields had 20+ YAC on 2 of his 22 TD passes.

The whole reason Mac ends up drafted is timing and accuracy. Any pick in any round is because you hope he can throw with anticipation in the nfl.

People act like they have never seen NFL wrs in college before.

I wonder if people knocked McNabb for having Marvin Harrison or Chad Pennington for having Randy Moss or Carr for having Devante Adams, heck even DeShawn Watson had Mike Williams.

When Chad Pennington was a Junior he threw 37 TDs & his leading receiver was Nate Poole who went undrafted in 2001 and played 36 games in 4 years in the NFL McNabb's senior year which was his best season with 22 TDs and his only year above 60% completion, his leading receiver was Kevin Johnson, who had about 3 decent NFL season and was out of the league by 29.

How can anybody be dislike this guy?

Some of the same knocks as Jones. Bit of a one year wonder, Surrounded by NFL talent combined with being 23 their rookie season. Versus someone like Trey lance who is 20. Scouts never really made excuses for him being around talent as they do for Jones tho.

Because Burrow is clearly better. Where was LSU the year before and after him?
Yeah the comparisons of Burrow and Jones stop as soon as you the tape starts playing.

Umm what loss? My point was Chris Simms was more credible than any talking head out there about who Kyle is going to pick. Then he picks on a irrelevant point about Chris not playing at a high level in the NFL. Anybody who reaches the NFL level and plays knows a hell of a lot more than journalist major who's never played in the NFL. Come on dude.

That's not always true. There are plenty of coaches/scouts who never played football at the pro level or even college level or barely played in college.

Also - many journalists are plugged in with coaches and scouts and can give you their insights. I just think - there is lot of misinformation during this time - so you take everything with a grain of salt.
From Mondays interview.
Chris Simms privy to your decision at number three?
KS: "Yeah. I tell him everything.[...]
, I didn't finish that answer to that last one on Chris, but trust me, Chris talks about everything. Therefore, I haven't been able to talk to him in a couple of years. Anyone who you're friends with who speaks in the media and people think you're friends with them, that means you're not allowed to tell them anything. That's why he doesn't even ask me stuff because if he does ask me something and I tell him, then he can't say it, but Chris does a good job with that stuff and I respect listening to him. That's why I always do listen to his opinions because he's not a guy who just calls people to get his opinions. Chris works at it. [...]
But, he loves watching quarterbacks and doing that stuff. So, I always love to hear his evaluation

.

Chris is his best friend. Might as well ask Saban about Jones and draft strictly based on that.

I doubt Kyle drafts that way. Simply put, Chris and Kyle are good friends, and that's a good indication of where the 49ers draft vs some talking head with no relationship at all with Kyle. Its not guaranteed, but add in Maiocco echoing the same thing and at that point you can make some educated guesses as to who will be #3.

I dont think the Fields pro day or the Lance pro day is going to change anything.

Kyle and the coaches need to do their damn jobs and be coaches. Get Fields and coach him!!

I would say that Shanny did his damn Job with Mullens..... I doubt many coaches could have gotten baby Dan Marino out of him the way Shanny did. I suspect Mullens production goes way down outside of SF.

I think we are super safe with any of the QBs sitting behind Jimmy G learning the system. If Shanny can do that for Mullens he can likely make any of these top QBs effective.

But what if Mac's arm isn't that much better than Nick's? I doubt Mac's release is as quick as Jimmy's.

There is no What if? Mac's got the velocity to make every required throw a QB needs to in the NFL and he can do it with ball placement and accuracy. Mullens has a noodle arm and there was no way he was completing some of the more difficult throws the NFL requires like an 18 yard out from the opposite hashmark without it getting picked.

Yeah, he's definitely not a "running QB." Lamar Jackson is a running QB..

Not going to argue about Lamar Jackson,...as it's a diversion from the 4 top QBs in this particular draft that are ALL not "running QBs",...but athletic QBs that can surely run.

Absolutely. It's not a negative. The negative aspect is when they can't shake that instinct to learn to play QB within the pocket first. And for many playing that their whole lives, ala Steve Young, shaking that natural instinct can be a very challenging ordeal that can take years. I think Fields is much further along than SY though.

Beats me who we're going to draft or who is going to be the best NFL qb, but I still don't understand the hate Mac Jones gets. He's so good at manipulating the d with his eyes/shoulders, moving around in the pocket, and keeping his eyes downfield.

The hate is simply childish. He simply represents the non-athletic flashy off-schedule big play guy. Mac just isn't "exciting." Simple as that. He's the classic drop back pocket passer who moves the offense methodically down the field for a TD vs. a guy who gets real or ghost-pressure, scrambles behind the LOS for over 3 seconds and heaves a 50 yard bomb for a TD...like Fields' pro day workout. Fans get so excited about that.

The thing you say about those flashys athletic Qbs could be said also to Trevor Lawrence or Zach Wilson.
I guess that´s a good thing the Niners don´t have the first pick.

It's a great point and certainly would be discussed if we were drafting at 1 or 2.

I mean, how often do we let our close friends tell us how to do our jobs? Not a great way to manage your career.

Jim Nagy saying Jones is just as or slightly more athletic than Joe Burrow. I honestly think he has more athletic than most think.

I just don't trust Jones' arm strength when off platform.

Burrow is so much more athletic than Jones it's not even close.

You gotta get thru to Joe that's he's doing your username wrong.

Jcool is still salty JoeCool won again.

If Chris Simms really felt the 49ers were taking Mac, he'd be a really s**tty friend to keep pointing it out.
