I should start a separate thread on this. but of the top 6 Qbs who do you think could start right away? I may have some guys ranked higher on my QB board, but I only feel comfortable with a couple of them starting right away. Mac Jones is one of them.

And got his Masters degree a year later.

He might not even be off the charts intelligent but he's certainly bright enough and driven.

From what I've read all the top 5 QBs are very smart.

I want to draft a QB that can do everything. Why is that such a bad thing? Great the QB can play within the pocket AND is mobile enough to extend plays, get free yards/1st downs, zone reads/RPOs are a actual thing etc.

Why can't we get one of those guys? Why can't we move up? Give the Phins an offer they can't refuse. Give ATL an offer they can't refuse. All this well let's just settle for a QB s**t is part of the reason we are still looking for an actual answer...look at this

SF hasn't drafted a QB in the first rd since 2005 and only use one 1st rd pick since 1998

I think Jones is a fine QB prospect. He likely costs us our 12th overall pick. He's great under structure and can run the offense the way you want it run. When s**t breakdowns and talent around gets hurt (and it does/will) I want a QB that can make s**t happen regardless.

You mean like when 1st round talent Jalen Waddle went down?

If he was dependent on the talent he would have forced passes to Smith. Instead he made Metchie and Billingsley better.

I don't think he's dependent on their talent. I think his ceiling is better than Jimmy's and he elevated players around him. But Smith, Metchie, and Najae are all possibly first rounders. (Maybe a little early to tell with Metchie).

If we draft Jones we need to get more speed on the outside. I wish Curtis Samuel wasn't going to be so expensive.

Greedy.

Aiyuk is plenty fast. Combine that with 2 possession receivers like Deebo and Kittle and I'm sure Mac would be just fine. Although the idea of Mac throwing his beautiful deep balls to someone like his current Heisman winner in our offense is exciting. Guess Aiyuk will have to just run faster

So basically, you're looking for a unicorn (the guys that are in/will be in the Hall of Fame). Good luck with that.

Yup he forced to throw the ball to the heisman winner in smith behind the top OL on the country & handed the ball off to the other heisman finalist...rough

Was Herbert a unicorn? Allen? Watson?

I just don't want to settle...enough settling.

I'm Going to play nice this draft season.
Matt Ryan isn't mobile. When he had Shanny calling the plays they were up 28-3 in the SB. Contrary to the memes, that SB was lost by Dan Quinn's defense (not sure how he escaped that scrutiny and put it all on Kyle).

Point is, Shanahan doesn't need a Mahomes or Wilson type athlete to win a SB. First and foremost is can the QB be elite from the pocket.

So Kyle's been the OC for 2 of the past 5 SB with pocket passers? Interesting
