McCorkle isn't getting to SF they way things are looking

It's going to take a small move up.

Hey if Kyle and Co. love him then you gotta do what you gotta do...everyone knows how I feel about McCorkle. I'd much rather go with the other 4 QBs. Invest in those high end traits/ceiling and put Jimmy out there for one more yr.

at this point I don't see them moving Jimmy before the draft, unless Watson magically becomes a realistic thing.

I'd be happy to go get Kapono, but that's going to take a Big move up with Selah. Watson would gut our team, and you can't add value that way.

I would move Jimmy with Any of these guys to use his cap space. We all agree, he's not the long term solution, so don't lose good players forever over him.

I think you're missing NY's point, which come from projections from cap god AB83.

Jimmy's salary is manageable, for anyone we'd like to sign long term we can push the money back to when Jimmy's contract would likely be off the books, plus the cap is likely to be much larger.

Jimmy only goes if you think you have a better QB option, and at least for next year that's not happening unless it's Watson.

Even if we get a rookie in and they beat him out we could then cut or trade him. The cap space wouldn't be available for Free Agents but it would allow us to extend or restructure more of our guys to soften the blow for next year and beyond.

Can't move Jimmy until we secure his replacement.

I'm not missing his point. I disagree with it.

If JG (or anyone) is on the roster week one, that $27.5m is guaranteed, even if you cut him week 2. You may want to make do, but it Will cost us free agents, either our own or from elsewhere.

Unlike Andy Reed and Alex, it seems certain to me that Kyle does not trust JG. To me, that means Any quarterback you draft in the top 12 Will be starting within a month of the start of the season, making it absolutely not cost effective to keep him. Jmo.

There are so many possibilities and needs this year that I can't really decide who I want. That's assuming they don't trade up or back. I'll be okay with a QB,DB, OL or edge as long as he fits and can start this year. The exception would be QB where I assume that Jimmy will start now that they have created more space. Still you never know what they're thinking. Do they really want to move on from him are they happy with him. It seems to change almost every week.

This, I was all about getting him off the books as quickly as possible...but AB says it's not necessary to make the moves we need to make. They don't have to restructure either.

Give me Lance/fields, let them sit (until Jimmy gets hurt) and structure contracts with the idea that Jimmy will be off the books in 2022...if Jimmy does his thing you can trade him in 2022 (or even at the trade deadline if we're confident in the rookie).

they're gonna have a good amount of cash with Jimmy off the books in 2022, they can extension Warner, get ready to pay Bosa/possibly Deebo. Go get some guys this yr and in the next 4/5 yrs with a rookie QB on the books.

Agreed and you don't have to move him this yr anyway...

You might if you want to keep Trent Williams and Jason Verrett.

huh? No it most certainly is not guaranteed. He has next to nothing left in gtd cash.

He has no guaranteed for injury money left on his contract, he has various incentives, work bonuses and $800k per game checks ($50K per game for being active).

They're at the stage of Jimmy's contract where it's pay as it goes, which is super favorable for SF or any team that might want him.

I do, and I'd like to pick up a veteran interior OL.

Not true. SF is currently 10th overall in cap space and that's without making a single restructure/cut.

They could be looking at adding another $14.5M in cap space by cutting richburg and restructuring Ford. They can restructure AA, ward, and give Tomlinson a extension which also creates all kinds of cap space as well.

plus if they draft a QB they will know Jimmy's $27M will NOT be on the books in 2022, so structure contracts for whomever this yr accordingly.

And you can do all of that...with Jimmy on the books.
