I don't want to make judgements based on personality but McCarron and Jones look very different to me mentality wise which to me goes a LONG way to success at the next level.

IMO Jones has much better accuracy, he's got better mechanics and he's better in the pocket.

If it wasn't for the potential of what the other top 4 QBs could do with Kyle Jones would be the guy I'd want the most outside of Lawrence because I really dig how he came up. I put a lot of substance into him coming up the Alabama ranks and getting his chance despite not being a 4/5 star QB prospect and just out working the other guys.

I do agree...where QBs go is huge for their career path. Jones here is a good thing. Jones with the Pats in their current form isn't ideal.

I'm not agreeing with it (totally) just putting out Lance's draft profile like every yr. I mean he comped Wilson to Jake Plummer.

I'll stick to my Dalton comp for Jones.

also McCarron was stupid successful at Bama, probably one of the best Bama QB's of all-time. Overall a lot of what he was good at, is what Jones is good at. Hate it all ya want, but it's kinda true...also doesn't mean Jones' career is gonna go the same route at all.

FWIW...
"AJ in Tuscaloosa: 77 touchdowns to just 15 interceptions, 9,019 total yards, a 66.9 completion percentage, and an overall rating of 162.5. All that with a 36-4 record."

and that's as a defensive/run team first, more than a passing team Bama has become the past couple yrs.

these comps are what they were coming out of college, not what they have become. Where they go matters SO MUCH...throw Jones on that Saints team and he will be much better than if you threw him on the Texans or Bears, Just how it goes.

My bad...i misread it and thought it was McCarron's draft profile and thought you were putting it out there for the comparison.

Definitely don't agree with Lance's analysis but it is what it is. Lance was the same dude who said Aaron Donald was a day 3 guy wasn't he?

NFL Comparison
AJ McCarron

AJ McCarron? Could have just said "more mobile Tom Brady" so fans could better understand.
My comparison is Ken Dorsey

Chad Pennington.

I don't see the Wilson-Plummer comparison at all.

Yeah I don't care that much lol.

Lance is a pretty well established evaluator. Everyone missed on Donald. Not just him.

I find it kinda silly to throw out someone's "misses" on a prospect just because we don't like a current evaluation (people in here doing it with DJ as well). I mean I value both their opinions, don't agree with everything, but they're both pretty respected guys in their field.

no hate on you genus, just really bothers me when people do that. Unless you just don't value their opinions at all....which is fine

Also people gotta remember they're valuing this guys as overall prospects NOT prospects that are going to a certain team/scheme, big difference.

Not hating...just pointing out that nobody is 100% right.

Jake the snake was pretty eclectic coming out of ASU total gunslinger....went to a horrible AZ team then down the road in his career locked up wirh shanahan to have some really good yrs...he sure liked to throw INTS though lol.

Again his comps are based on guys when they came out of college, not who they become.

No doubt, if he was he would be a GM somewhere lol.

again these guys are just projecting them overall as a talent, not factoring in team/scheme/coaching etc.

Mahomes with Adam Gase would be a disaster lol. Aaron Donald as a traditional 2 gap DT would be a waste of talent. Throwing Julio Jones with Nick Mullens would suck lol.

All these QBs are talented, gonna depend where they get drafted, if they will be successful.

Oh I agree...which is why I'd have no problem with him being our pick even at 12. Then again just like in 2017 I say that about any QB Kyle Shanahan wants bad enough to draft early in the draft.

If he gives them a stamp of approval regardless of my opinion on them I'll be pumped because I know Kyle knows offense. Hoping this year we get our Brandon Aiyuk of QBs.

I still have love for Jimmy but at this point I hope best case scenario for us is Drew Brees/Phil Rivers situation...except we keep the Drew Brees version of the young player and win a bunch more SBs with them.

Correct me if I'm wrong, didn't Walsh prefer Plummer over iconic Jim Drunkemiller in the 1997 draft?

That's what I remembered, too.

I actually agree with that. I think many have been on the "best QB since Luck" Lawrence bandwagon for so long that they just completely ignore some of his red flags. My biggest issues with Wilson is if his playing style will work in the NFL against bigger and faster athletes. I just feel he'll get killed if he doesn't learn to protect himself better or get stronger. I thought the same things about Kyler Murray too tho, but he's more elusive and his small size actually helps him avoid big hits/get down quicker... and he still injured his shoulder this season.
