I don't know why he doesn't have a thread already but along with Trask, if the 49ers were to draft a QB, I think he is a much more realistic option than guys like Fields and Wilson that are likely to go well before the 49ers pick. Mac Jones isn't as dynamic as Tua and he doesn't have the same ceiling but he's shown very good progress as a quarterback. He's a nice fit for a WCO or timing based passing offense, reasonably decisive and accurate, quick release, not the most mobile guy out there but able to avoid pressure adequately and he's improved his deep passing among other areas. Definitely a guy to keep an eye on. I do think his arm has more zip than Trask's and he's a little less hesitant to just let it rip but like Trask, he's also surrounded by a considerable amount of top notch talent on that offense so you wonder how much of a benefit that is providing him with overall. Agree. The stuff they do now at the high school level is amazing as compared to a decade or two ago. Those drills are eye openingly impressive.

Wish we saw more of him throwing it on the run like that in the Bama offense. But like you said, a lot of the same stuff rings true years later. Top notch accuracy, good ball placement, intensely competitive, high football IQ and can make all the throws including a nice deep ball.

Hearing DeVonta pick Mac over Tua made me do a double take. That to me speaks to overall leadership skills and how respected he was within that locker room.

Albert Breer reported one team asked Smith point blank: Tagovailoa or Jones?

"The question was barely finished before Smith answered: Mac Jones," Breer wrote. "He was bold and definitive about it, as I heard it. And of course, it's logical to some degree."

He has a whole lot of traits that you love to see, traits that can't be measured with a scale or stopwatch. Seems like a QB that Shanahan would enjoy working with.

If Kyle is really focused on Jones and freaking Mond dude is setting himself up to fail with his bs qb philosophy.

It's not like he wouldn't take Wilson first... it's based on where we're sitting and what we'd have to give up to move up for Wilson or Fields (IMO)

Well, Simms did say he believes Zach Wilson would be Kyle's favorite QB in the draft, which is what most of us assumed.

Unfortunately, his buddy Saleh will likely end up with Wilson.

But him liking Mac Jones shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. It should be expected at this point.

Yup I heard that very early on here in NYC as well. Their GM is now signaling he would listen to offers for Darnold. IMO they will trade him before draft day for sure to maximize value so we will know.

Mac Jones looks like a solid prospect to me. Debatable where to place him this draft, but def going high. I've read 5 QB could go top ten, and also that only 3 could go etc. No idea what to think at this point, but if one falls to 12 its hard to pass up.
