The 49ers already gave up valuable draft picks for an "unknown" quantity. Given that there is already uncertainty, it would be best to draft someone who has a recent track record of playing well, had played against good defenses, coached by good coaches, and succeeded.
I would say Mac Jones is the best fit amongst the left over QBs, and I hope Shanahan picks him.
There is no guarantee that Mac Jones or Lance would end up being a great QB, we've seen enough of "potential" our entire lives.
This whole talk about floor and ceiling is just sports analysts trying to act as if they know something.
This is a one time shot in the dark, take the player that comes from a college where the game of football is taught well.

How are you so sure? An argument can be made it's pre-covid...but if its recent, Alabama lifted its mask mandate as of April 9, 2021 and I don't htink there's any restrictions from a club operating at this point either.

I don't care how he looks. I just can't fathom the fact that Justin Fields is not "good enough" yet is just as accomplished as Lawrence AND Fields has improved every single year, which Lawrence did not. And Lance is inexperienced yet he has played the same number of games as Jones. AND Jones played in a wing T in HS.

I hate the elongated motion as well, but once he learns the offense, he will speed up. NO ROOKIE QB going to come in and be able to smoothly operate Kyle's offense. It took Mahomes learning from Alex for him to be ready quicker.

I disagree. He makes the right read, he just doesn't have the arm to get it there. WR makes a great adjustment to come back for it. He had his man beat for the endzone but sees the ball comes short and comes back to get it.

And yes, 5_Golden_rings THIS throw is off platform and seems to prove the point, his arm is pedestrian when he's off platform. That's not to say he can never make a play, maybe our WR can make this adjustment too, but I think its fair to say if its fields making that same throw he's able to take a shot at the endzone where his man has a step.
