I actually came away with a bigger impression of their TE Isaac Rex. He looks like a beast to me.
Cool story bro. You watch one game and highlights to evaluate a prospect
No, you're right. I'm sure you've watched several BYU games as well.
Seriously, they act like BYU is playing teams with future pro players. Also, they act like they are breaking down film. He has been great, but it's a bit hard to evaluate when the competition is so weak. Plenty of QBs can make these throws if the competition is not good. If he can make these throws against good teams then he may be gold. Right now he is like the first girl a prisoner sees after getting out. He is going to think she is way hotter until he sees some competition.
He is listed as basically the same size as Steve Young, but he looks a lot thinner to me. He has also had some injuries: shoulder surgery and a broken thumb last year.
To the guy that said he has never been this hard before watching the low definition channel BYU vs North Alabama game you may need to see a Urologist and/or Psychiatrist.

end of the day I don't see SF winning more than 6 games.
Yeah, and that he also what the article touches on. They dint see the niners mortgaging their future to move up .
Ward and Moore are the only 2 guys under contract next year in the secondary, who knows if Richburg will ever play again and they have minimal money to spend in FA with a lot of FAs
Cutting Jimmy Garoppolo helps with resigning them.

I disagree with that. For the level of defenses they are facing, his OL is absolutely elite, one of the best in the nation and quite capable for both run and pass blocking. He rarely faces pressure in the pocket compared to most other QB's. Just another reason why I'm rooting for BYU to keep winning and draw a strong matchup in a bowl game.

Keep an eye on that BYU OL - they have several future pros up front opening holes.

OC James Empey has pro starting potential. And LT Brady Christensen, RG Tristen Hoge and RT Chandon Herring are all considered potential day 3 draft picks.
It's not saying much, but I was comparing him to Fields and Lawrence. Not other QBs around the leave. Hardly ever see Fields get pressure. Maybe I gotta see more of Lawrence if I'm wrong there.

Fields got some of the best IOL prospects coming out of the draft this yr. Bama has stud lineman all over the place and play a ton of 7 man protections because they know their stud WRs will get open at will.

I doubt anybody believed Mahomes would be this incredible. I also don't remember anybody claiming he wasn't 1st round talent, or wouldn't get drafted in the first round. Furthermore, he threw for over 700 yards and had nearly 100 yards rushing against Oklahoma with about 90 passes. I thought this guy in the right system is going to be damn good. The main thing used against him is he was feasting on weak Big 12 defenses. Big 12 defense was lacking, but the offense wasn't and many shootouts occurred. BYU is feasting on weak offense and defense no shootouts for Wilson. They aren't playing healthy good teams they are playing very weak competition. I think the Bowl game will really be his chance to blow minds.
You scout everything not just some traits, or you get Jeff George that had skills galore. A lot of QBs can do some amazing things if the defense isn't good. Only a fool would ignore other factors like competition and scheme. Just evaluating traits you get Jim Druckenmiller.
Wilson may turn out to be excellent. He has done what he should, and dominated the games. COVID f'ed up their original solid schedule. I'm just hoping if the 49ers get him he isn't fools gold.

Drukenmiller was your prototypical big, tall, and strong arm draft prospect. Accuracy is a trait that we can evaluate. Protecting the ball. Ability to read a defense. Ability to maneuver in the pocket. Ability to throw off platform. Ability to maintain proper footwork and mechanics in different situations. All things that were ignored with Drukenmiller. All things that look to be positives for Zach Wilson. Is he impervious to busting? Of course not. Would we have a better idea of his ability to handle pressure situations vs better competition? Of course. But you repeatedly throw out an empty blanket statement of "poor competition" as evidence that he is being overrated by fans, media, and really everyone who's opinion is able to be known.

Many posters here thought he could be this incredible . His mechanics needed work, and everyone was still scared of air raid QBs at the time. Dude had never even dropped back lmao. But some of us are on record being absolutely blown away by his arm, accuracy and touch. Wasnt your typical situation of a QB prospect with a rocket arm. This kid was absolutely special as a thrower.
There was a group of guys that even wanted mahomes picked, we were trying to look into any Kyle interview hoping mahomes was the guy. One interview specifically I was hyped and posted about where Kyle said the number one trait is being a gold thrower.
And yes there was a lot of talk of Mahomes in the second , end of the first mostly. Thanks to
The scouts and mock drafts that put him there.

I had Mahomes as my top QB. But I also thought Watson would be a bust. Oops.

This. Film is film...you see the the tight window throws. You see throwing with anticipation and velocity. It's not just a bunch of wide open throws.
Yes competition is a part of the evaluation. Traits are traits though. I mean if he played for Bama with that coaching staff and talent around him do we think he'd be worse in the SEC? I don't. Same if he played for Clemson in the ACC.
I hope some teams feel that way with Wilson/Lance

Yeah I wasn't a Mahomes guy (have since said my bad lol). Talent wasn't the issue for me...it was the system he played and the fact that he really didn't have to read defenses. There was a ton of holy s**t throws at Texas tech but there was also plenty of WTF throws too.
IMO talent is talent, where a players goes (especially a QB) is just as important. Do we think Mahomes would be who he is if he had to start day 1 for the Jets? Would Andrew luck be retired if he was playing for the Saints or KC?
Pray for Lawrence in NJ lol

I think Wilson is going to jump Fields in the rankings and be #2. I think the stigma of recent OSU QBs is gonna hurt Fields a little bit.

🙏🏻 prayers up. Just let us continue to lose games while other bad teams win some more. Washington's win yesterday really helped us, but we need to get in front of Carolina and NE to truly be able to get Wilson without a trade I think.

Dear Santa,
All i want for Christmas is a QB that
Can make all the throws down the field.
Trask or Wilson. Who ever Shanahan Loves.
