This guy has been flying up draft boards this year. Good size (6'3"/210). Strong, accurate arm. Moves around really well and throws well on the move. Plays significant snaps under center and is very effective in both the straight play action game and boots (huge for a QB in Kyle's system). Beautiful mechanics but isn't mechanical, he can deliver the ball from many different arm angles as needed for a given throw. He's also effective throwing the ball to all different levels: deep, intermediate, short, and in the screen game. This is the type of QB I could see Lynch & Shanahan falling in love with for Kyle's offense. Andre Ware was gushing over him with the throws he was making and Tom Luginbill was comparing him to Patrick Mahomes with his ability to move around, play off script, and deliver the ball in so many different ways. Weaknesses seem to be that he can be overly aggressive in his decision making both running the ball and pushing the ball downfield when it would be more prudent to check the ball down. And he's struggled with injuries up until this season. After two consecutive sold gains in the run game, this! Play action pass, TE wheel. Makes sense from the Niners perspective. It would only make sense for the Jets if Fields or Lance is their guy though....you don't pass up on Wilson, if he's truly your guy, for a 2nd round pick.

I love Wilson, and if we already had #2, or if somehow the Jets took Lance or Mac, I'd have a really difficult choice drafting between them.

As it stands I absolutely wouldn't trade any assets to them as I'd be happy with either him or Fields.

It might be recency bias in my case having just finished Fields, but I think I have him ahead.

If we knew for sure that Shanny would take Fields or Wilson I would also just sit at 3 and take whoever the Jets dont take. I like them both a lot as well.
It doesnt sound like that is the case and the Niners are deciding between Lance and Jones if Wilson goes 2
Given that, I would gladly give our 2nd rounder to the Jets to ensure we get an elite prospect like Wilson who the Niners seem to really like

At this point I would rather have Wilson over Jones and our 2nd pick. I just do not trust Shanny to pass on Jones.

A trade to 2 wouldn't make any sense. We would have to overpay since we like the same players. We would have to give them more than they think Wilson is worth compared to Fields to get them to move....unless they actually didn't like Wilson more. That would mean we were giving them picks to moves back and still draft the guy they were going to at 2, and we could have got Wilson without trading.

Man I feel the same way. Love Wilson and Fields. Would be more than fine with Lance. Absolutely devastated if we took Mac. I'm down with this plan to ensure we get Wilson (that's the only guy I see at 2) to make absolutely sure we are not taking Mac

Yeah man it sucks, but my fear is they really are considering Mac at 3. If I knew for certain that it would be Fields or Lance at 3, I wouldn't give away any more assets.

Just talking about it makes me sick to my stomach. Mac is not even in the same stratosphere as Wilson, Fields or Lance as a prospect and I think Shanny is the only coach in the NFL who would think he is and actually take him at 3 over the others
