Just give the Jets our 2nd to swap and be done with this. But Wilson better be a STUD or giving up all this draft capital will set the Niners back years.
The dream is still alive
I admittedly liked Wilson more when I thought that Lance and Fields were the sure fire one and two. Not sure I wouldn't be at least a little bummed if the jets take fields
Honestly the more I dig into Fields the more I want him, even if Wilson is on the board. Trading up to 2 makes no sense to ME. Fields or Wilson at 3 and we use the other picks to build around them.

It won't matter if the Jets pick him. Such a shame, Jags and Jets are ALWAYS picking in the top 5

How about this one and I'm sure somebody else brought it up but don't feel like reading thru the entire thread:

First off I love Fred Warner. Would prefer to sign him long term but he'll be asking 20MM. Bobby Wagner now makes 18MM so there's your comparable. Paying 20MM for a linebacker is tough. Just playing devils advocate and looking at all the options so bare with me....

We trade Fred to the Jets. In exchange, they swap #2 for #3 which opens the door for us to take Z. Wilson. The Jets also kick back the #23 pick in the first round that they own.

It's one thing to prefer Wilson over Fields, Lance, and Jones. It's a whole different matter altogether to think Wilson is worth a 2nd round picks or an All-Pro linebacker in Fred Warner better than Fields, Lance, and Jones. Am I really reading this right? People think there is that much of a gap between Wilson and whoever they think number 3 is? Interesting.

This. I'd take Fields at 2, so I'd definitely take him at 3. If Fields were gone, I'd be thrilled with Wilson. The trade up makes no sense to me however. The difference between the prospects isn't that great IMO and whoever goes to the 49ers is automatically in a better situation. I'd argue that the bust potential is lowest for whoever is our choice.

If the difference is Wilson vs Fields + a starting CB, OL or edge rusher, give me the latter. I don't think the gap between the two is all that sizable and Fields definitely is the more durable of the two.

Who the hell said we are trading Warner, honestly folks

There is still hope the Jets pass on him.

Maybe they will stick with Darnold and take a generational talent in Kyle Pitts. Unlikely but one can only hope.

The Jets could take Pitts and still have a shot at Jones with #23 or by trading up with their 2nd rounder at #34 or some combo including their two 3rd round picks.

Now that would be some serious wheeling and dealing. Wouldn't be mad at that move either if I were a Jets fan. But if they are going to pass on a QB, just go all in with D'Arnold. Add another one of the T/G prospects at 23 and take Pitts. I'd say trade back and take Pitts later, but I don't think it's a guarantee Atlanta or Cincinnati would pass.

Think of it this way,

Mac Jones is a more athletic version of Peyton Manning when he was in the draft.

Not sure what any of this has to do with Zach Wilson. But none of it is true.
If Mac Jones were a more athletic version of Peyton Manning, he'd be in the conversation for 1st overall. He's not in the conversation for 1st or 2nd best.

I forgot who it was but wasn't there another situation like this then they ended up drafting his replacement? Vague I know but I felt like I've seen this before. I know even corey Davis said he expects darnold to be the qb, but we will see.

Well the Cardinals were steadfast that Rosen was their guy. Russel Wilson wasn't talked about for the Seahawks hype letter this year. George Kittle expects Jimmy G as our QB. NFL off season is the best way to describe what a woman means when she says "go ahead have fun"

Set up. LMAO.

As Young mentioned, he wants to play for KS and SF.

If the Jets can't develop him properly he may never recover.
I get the Jets as an org, but this is LaFleur there and Saleh. There should be some quality coaching available.

That list is terrifying. But I also think a good deal of attention is not paid to the fact that 1st round QB's almost always go to the worst teams and typically only given a couple years to prove themselves. I think the Eli Manning strategy is completely under used.

Exactly. I think Wilson on the Jets becomes a bust. Wilson in SF becomes a superstar. The Jets aren't ready for a rookie QB
Why? I understand the stigma of the Jets as an org. But Saleh is HC. Mike LaFleur is calling the plays. I am not sure who is the QB coach, but Saleh looks to have assembled a nice well rounded staff with a mix of veteran minds, guys who are proven in their position, as well as some upcoming familiar names. I think the Jets will get this right, so long as people are patient and their GM makes the right picks.

Steve Young is in love with Wilson. It's probably make his year if we drafted Wilson.
Would need the Jets to fall in love with Fields' toughness. Dude is a leader and a half.

The Sewell vs Chase meme in comments is hilarious
My loins if the Jets are dumb enough to trade us Wilson:
