Change the name to the Warriors, update this uniform and your done.

Agree - very logical.

LOL, that won't work

Marquette University, responding to concerns from American Indians, will drop "Warriors" as the nickname for its athletic teams, a published report said Friday.

Should the Golden State Warriors be renamed too?

May as well go all the way and rename the Minnesota Vikings, Dallas Cowboys and New England Patriots while we're at it.

Agree it's pretty silly.

Golden state is probably fine cuz they don't use any native American related imagery. Washington would have to follow suit otherwise it may be tough to get their sponsors on board.
Great suggestion from the internet...the Washington Redtails. The Tuskegee Airmen were nicknamed Redtails because they painted the backs of their planes red. The team plays near two air bases, in a predominantly African American neighborhood.
literally the most racist name in sports, this was a long time coming

redskin is an actual slur, this isn't hard to understand
What about the Chiefs?

I wonder if they could change it to the name of the local tribe in that area. I believe there was a Potomic tribe. That would at least get rid of the racist slur. It seems to work for the FSU Seminoles. If not I vote for Razorbacks. That would kind of honor their history of their great o line called the hogs.

There are many tribes in the DV area, and I doubt Snyder would want to promote a particular tribe through his franchise especially since he is being forced to make this change.

Not only that but Warriors can be anyone. We have the wounded warriors program for military personnel injured in battle.

Agreed. Let's try and use common sense and practice a little sensitivity. Any reference to skin color is obviously racist.

The "Chiefs" makes no reference to skin color and although the term has been used in a pejorative manner by some to refer to a Native American person, I'm sure this name is not going to face the same level of scrutiny by the community. We also have the responsibility of assuming good intentions and I don't believe we can conclude that the use of the word Chiefs has racist origins.

It's pretty clear he was just referring to the use of warriors as a name, not the Redskins

A Native American group suggested the Washington RedHawks awhile back. I like it for several reasons..

It rolls off the tongue a lot like Redskins, so people could get used to it quickly.
DC is fairly close to Baltimore, which has the Ravens and Orioles. It fits with the bird theme.
A hawk is a symbol of strength, thus a good football name.
There are a decent number of hawks in the DC Area, so it makes sense.
They wouldn't have to change the uniforms much, as you have shown.

A popular Nor Cal casino is named Redhawk.

Do it.

That wasn't his point though. His post was about switching to the Warriors.
