"3rd and Jauan" Jennings l WR Tennessee, signs with Vikings

He's slow. He's relatively small. Cannot get separation. This is the NFL, not college.
If the team had fewer injuries than it has, I couldn't see it. But he has a chance now, because they did draft him.
I'd rather keep Tavon Austin over this guy; dude has speed and versatility.

I'd say practice squad definitely; the Niners don't like admitting to drafting mistakes.

Jennings can win against man coverage. Whether you are in off coverage or in his face, he has ways to get open. If Jennings can't create separation, his frame still allows him to make the play. Once the ball is in his hands, Jennings is a running back. Winning underneath was valuable for the 49ers last year. That value doubles when the receiver can turn a quick throw into a big play. If Jennings can get open in practice against this defense, he's going to surprise some this season.

The guy has just a few practices under his belt, and word has been good so far about his play.

Jauan Jennings is not small and he doesn't play small. Not sure where that narrative came from.

6'3" is relatively small for a receiver in your book? Are you talking about someone else?

You can tell a lot of posters here just rely on the measurables. If they don't like the player's numbers in the combine or his physical size, they throw him under the rug. What is more ironic or I'd say more funny, is they're not even accurate with their facts. Well, let's give everyone the benefit of the doubt. Let's wait until the final roster and if Jennings is in while most of the ex super hyped, uber athletic, high drafted players like White, Nelson, Brown are not in, we just have proven why they're not in any team's rosters anymore after jumping from one team to another and another at their supposed to be prime age. It's already a good sign that Jennings is also not injury prone maybe because one of his silver linings is his body is used to contact and physicality. Another one of his silver linings is he used to be a quarterback. You don't have to be so fast to be a great receiver, just know where the quarterback wants you to be or just always finds the soft spots to help the quarterback. Maybe, hopefully Jennings has this and he will be a solid contributor to our team for a long time.

LOL! Lit some fire!
My bad if I was wrong on the size. I thought that he was like 210lbs or something. Which is relatively small compared to some of the bigger WRs who are taller and in the 230lb range.
My reasoning is that if your going to rely on making contested catches you better be able to out muscle the opposition, which is relatively easy in college, but tougher in the NFL. Personally I see more value in twitchy guys who can get separation at WR. For the contested catches revert to the tight-ends for their size advantage. And the Niners have TWO excellent ones, with speed and wiggle. We'll see what KS thinks of the situation.

How many receivers do you keep? Aiyuk, Deebo, TTaylor, Bourne, Pettis. Those guys are either twitchy, or proven, or both. Two more? Like I said: I like Austin. He has speed (which you cannot teach) and versatility - what you need in a back-up. So who's that other? Someone with real speed? A long ball threat?

Like I said, with all the injuries, he has a good shot at the roster. Being drafted and all. And he may have other intangibles. But word is that he gets overly enthusiastic and is a flag risk. He'll need to get that under control. Penalties are drive killers. I'm not the decision maker, so it'll be interesting to see what happens. I do wish him the best and there's a spot for him on the practice squad.

I still think someone gets traded.

I like your list.

That's my list too. If we keep 7 wrs which I hope we do.
Deebo
Bourne
Pettis - TRADE TO MIAMI WITH WARD AND CJ FOR JOSH ROSEN ( WE ALSO SIGN EARL THOMAS )
Taylor
Jennings
WHITE - (AUSTIN)
Aiyuk

Huh? Why would we want Josh Rosen? Why would we trade a WR when we have injuries? Why would we trade Ward? Earl isn't worth the money.

I think he forgot to add that Miami would throw in some picks with that. What a terrible trade. I'd keep Beathard at this point over Rosen.

the team will be in better hands with Rosen than Mullen and CJ combined.. you must be related to CJ to believe that he's better than Rosen.

Rosen is one of the smartest QB in the league, he's just not getting his chances... Like Steve Young before he got to SF, I'm sure you didn't believe in him when he was running around at Tampa Bay..

Rosen has got absolutely no talent. Comparing him to Steve Young is laughable.
has Jennings been doing anything in Camp? haven't heard him mentioned much.
