Even if Fitz ran faster than we think, he runs slower than Wrs and quite a few tight ends and he has been at that slower speed for quite a few years. Either way he's a big boy that can break tackles and run over people. We have four players like that now. Kittle Kyle J, Samuel and Jennings.
I can't think of another offense that has four players like this. Just bullies

He ran a 4.63, 40-yard-dash at the 2004 NFL Combine. Currently he's probably faster, and the 40 is obviously overrated.

Fitz in his prime was much faster. He's like 36 now lol.
Yeah would have been nice to see what Hurd could do in this offense as well. Seems like Kyle has went away from his old "style" of WRs.
I like Jennings, I'm not expecting much from him this yr too be honest. I think Taylor has the slot role locked down as of now.

"It might have been the best highlight video I've seen on YouTube. He's a 7th rounder & he's definitely more talented than a 7th rounder." #49ers VP of player personnel Adam Peters on rookie WR Jauan Jennings.

And we were skeptical about DK Metcalf but gush over this dude as if he's a TE in a WR body. Dude is small for a "big" NFL receiver.
And he's not fast.
Originally posted by CatchMaster80:I checked a few sites and Larry's average time at his pro day was a hand timed 4.5. That was about the average of his attempts. That's not bad for a guy that is 6'3" and about 220 lbs. He also has huge 10 1/2" hands. Jerry Rice was reported to have run 4.71 but that was later denied. Walsh said they had him at 4.59 and Gil Brandt had him at 4.55. Neither time is blazing but it didn't seem to hurt him too much.
I know a lot of fans drool over the guys that run sub 4.3 but they are rarely great receivers. Most are under 6' and less than 190lbs. The other thing is that no good receiver just lines up and runs as fast as he can on most plays. You have to have that 2nd gear so you can juke a defender and then put on a burst to open some space. If you're running flat out it's hard to make precise cuts. Precise patterns and good hands are more important than raw speed.
