He's by far the best we have. It's not close. 2nd place is not close. Is that Pearsall? We don't even know. Not Cowing or the suspended guy.
Pay him or not...

Camp / preseason gon see what other dudes got (Pear, Cow, Hodgins, Owens, Rooks, Robinson), we'll see what's up
Like I said earlier in the offseason, JJ wants that bag. I know APY isn't real, but those $10m-12m being thrown out there by fans was laughable. He's going to easily get $20 milly a year if he hits FA.

I love you JJ, but my boy Hysterikal said it perfectly a few pages back. The 49ers need to stop paying these WR dudes and let them walk. They should've never paid BA and they shouldn't pay JJ what he's going to want. The young guys are already in the building. Coach them up and keep the production line moving.

Pay your elite players; try to fleece your fringe good-to-great players before they get pricey, or trade them/let 'em walk in FA; focus everything else on the draft.

I would take it even further.

I wouldn't have paid CMC last year with his quiet absence. Paying an aging RB with an extensive injury history after a year where he got a gazillion of touches, is just asking for trouble. And RB is easily the most replaceable position in the league.

The CMC extension started this snowball going downhill stuff with training camp time contract extension demands.

Players will now wait until the draft and FA to put the team in a situation where it's not easy to replace them, and then ask for a new contract.

True

That's where he earned the tag 3rd and Jauan for sure but he exploded last year on the outside. Think Pearsall might be better suited for slot and keep JJ outside would be my only point

I assume you meant after FA and the draft? So fd up but true. This is becoming a pattern, might be wise to extend a player mid year like Lenoir when they are both killing it in camp and on the field to incentivize other players to follow suit rather drag it out into the off season

He has grown each year and yes, Mr. Irrelevant says hello-you know how that can go, but he could turn into the best WR on the team. Give him $15m a year for two years and see how it goes. What's the deal this year? The largest form of his pay is some large lump payment on Sept 1. Not a roster bonus but something like that. Pay the man. This is new look Brock and WRs 2.0.

If JJ is the best WR on the team then the team is cooked.

Sorry to break it to you: he is.

You think he is ... doesn't make it true.

Brandon Aiyuk's ceiling is far far above JJs. We just don't know what he will look like yet, but he could be much better than JJ. Pearsall and Watkins have more potential.

JJ is a very good NFL player, but he's also limited. His ceiling is already here and it's lower than the ceiling of most of the kids.

We really don't know what this WR will look like by the last third of this season.

So you put Deebo in that group as well, Right?

Aiyuk is a better WR healthy by a lot. We don't know if he'll be healthy, but it's the plan.

Can't recall the exact timeline, but he essentially held out then all the Achilles stuff comes up after they gave him the extension Then Williams holds out and comes in woefully out of shape then dealt with injuries all year. Bush league

You think he's going to get more than Jerry Jeudy "easy"?

In hindsight, yeah, I do. It was definitely a tough learning lesson, especially as a huge Deebo fan.

I'm not the only one. Spotrac has JJ's market value at $19.1m. Sheeeeeeesh. JJ def getting his bag this offseason. Good for him. Dude busted his ass to get to where he's at. I'll be rooting for him on his next team.

But he didn't "explode". He started 5 times as many games, got 3 1/2 times more targets, had fewer yards per catch, and didn't have as high a success rate as he did from 2 years ago. As a starting "star" WR he had 1 great game but it was the only game he got over 100 yards. He had fewer games last year where the QB rating throwing to him was over 100 but the year before he got 5.

JJ's a good player sure, but he's not an outlier.

The problem is everyone who has held out under Lynch has got paid. the players know if they have leverage and hold out Lynch will cave in.

He needs to start fixing this.
