The wild card in all this is the role that politics is playing in the reopening/lockdown. With the WH in play, and with it at least one, if not more SCOTUS appointments awarded to the winner, along with many other things, the state of the economy come October will have a GREAT deal to do with it. In the end, most people will vote with their checkbook. If there is money in it, they want it to stay the same. If it is empty, the want change. In this case, a lot of folks will have empty checkbooks but who gets the blame, that is the question.
Newsom holds the biggest hand in the game. The California economy is huge but it has gone from a $30B surplus to $54B in red ink since the lockdown. If that continues, he will have a very hard time holding onto the lockdown thereby preventing an NFL season. The stakes all around are just too high. Too many businesses already closed permanently and jobs lost to prevent a major revolt, IMO.

49ers can come here to Arizona and Deebo the Cards out of their own stadium. Have them go back and play in Tempe.
"This my stadium now punks!"-John Lynch, probably.

Totally agree with you.
And it's Pretty evident the lockdowns are highly politically motivated.
I think the NFL season starts on time. To much money involved for it not to.
As for a vaccine, These big pharma companies will push a vaccine to market and in 4-5 years We will see all the ads for lawsuits against the vaccine for all the side effects they caused.
If your healthy, you have better chances going without the vaccine.

the fact that lockdown is political is extremely sad imo. The fact is if every single soul in America stayed inside for 35 days the virus would not be prevalent. They are tens of thousands of people now who are asymptomatic.
Vaccines also very rarely cause side effects being the fact that it is your own immune system that is the defense.

Do people realize that there is very little money in vaccines? I understand very well how corrupt big pharma is, but they arent making their money from vaccines. Most vaccines are free or cost you a cup of coffee. There isnt financial motivation for a vaccine.

So one company is gonna be in charge of the vaccine and then be allowed to monopolize it? Come on now...

The fact that they scheduled divisional games in Week 1 and Week 17 is sending a huge message, IMHO.
In doing that, there's a huge chance of homefield imbalance in division play if they start the season without fans in the stands and then allow them later in the season.
To me, the fact that the NFL scheduled it the way they did is their way of saying "we will play the entire regular season with fans or none of it with fans."

There will be no patent for the vaccine so a successful vaccine will be available worldwide

Just came here to say there's no way we are playing road games in New York in September, and probably not a home game that month either.

Still seems like everyone is spitballing about COVID 19 even the "experts". We understand it's a "Novel" virus so I'm guess that makes every novices on how to combat it right? I'm simply trying to understand a solution other than stay in the house forever.

What are the chances the CA governor says no sports all season including games with no fans? Would the 49ers be forced to plays 16 road games?
