It's not that I have an issue about not resigning a 33 year old WR, it's that we gave up a lot for him. It doesn't appear we made much of an effort to resign him. We basically gave up a 3rd round pick for 10 games.
This offseason sucks. Losing Buckner, now Sanders as well. Two key players on each side of the ball that made a huge difference for us. We got fleeced by the Broncos, how did they not agree to a deal before agreeing to a trade?! Insane. Losing so many picks for 10 games only. Wow.

We couldn't offer 8m per year for sanders? wow. But we keep do nothings like goodwin, mckinnon thomas and cj. We couldnt find the extra 1m by restructuring jimmy g or cutting pettis? What are we thinking.

This sends our receiving corps in the sh*tter. Deebo not a number one, pettis is a joke, bourne and goodwin have the dropsies. with sanders we had a legitimate receiver to play off kittle. Now we don't. Even if we pick up a rookie prospect. Because no college team plays a pro offense. This is bad.

Couldn't agree more.
I know this isn't the right thread for this, but I keep thinking to myself... I thought Parag was this genius cap worker and I was under no impression that we would be in a cap squeeze. I've been scratching my head because I thought we structured the contracts to give us space every year. What the hell happened?

Free agent talent evaluation is questionable. Like signing Kwon and then restructuring his deal. Cutting him would've been so helpful this offesason.

We we're actually undefeated last season before we traded for Sanders so I'm sure we'll be fine.
Not making much of an effort if any to sign Sanders tells me they are looking to draft one of the top 3 receivers at #13. Not only will he be cheaper with the rookie contract but with Sanders still on the team it could have held the rookie back. You couldn't give Sanders $8 million per year and then have him solit time with your #1 draft pick. The young guy wouldn't be getting enough reps and Sanders would be over paid as a part time player.

We couldn't pass the ball to save our life before Sanders. How quickly people forget.

You don't need to pass when your running over everyone. Besides, Deebo will be going in to his 2nd year and no doubt we'll draft a WR with our first pick to give Jimmy another weapon.
It sucks Sanders left cause he was a vet and so well liked in the locker room but its ok. We have a ton of young WR's to work with. Deebo, Hurd, Taylor, Bourne, Pettis, James that alone is a pretty talented WR group. Add maybe a stud WR with the 13th pick or sign another veteran WR this offseason of bring back Matthews. Sad to see Sanders go but we are fine at WR

His supposed cap genius was because of a bunch of retirements and cuts over suspensions
UUUUGGGGGG I so much would rather have signed Emanuel to this 2 year 16 million dollar deal and let Ward walk. This way Sanders could groom the true number one at pick 13 and we could have gone safety at 31.

We still will go WR at 13, and I believe they will trade down and get a safety or OL in second and a safety OL (whichever one was not picked in round 2) in round 3 or top of round 4

We got to the Superbowl and was closed to win it. We knew our receiving corps was a huge weakness in the middle of the season, had we not make the trade and loss in the playoff we would always be wondering if we should have done more.

The hope is that Jimmy G will get much better next season and that itself will offset more than the loss of Bucker and Sanders.

We also have a bunch of young players who should get better, a lot more than aged players who are on the decline.
