Clear dirty hit, he should sit for at least one game if not the rest of the season.

NFL punishment is so inconsistent it's become a joke.

Yep. I strolled over to the net to see what Seahawks' fans were saying and of course most of them are claiming it wasn't dirty as Wentz hadn't given himself up.

The replays I'm watching clearly shows Wentz in the process of falling when Clowney lowers his shoulder. I think it was totally unnecessary and there should have been an ejection.

Your right though. Everything from officiating to player punishment is very inconsistent in the NFL.

Fined, yes. like any other helmet to helmet hit. Suspended, naw. I know he probably SHOULD be, but he wont. only time someone gets suspended is for throwing punches/kicks.

The league is in a conundrum. They fine him, they admit it was a dirty hit. They don't fine him and everything they've been pushing towards player safety goes down the drain.

Welp. Gotta make all hits on the QB reviewable now.

Or using a helmet as a weapon
I hate eagles fans but can you imagine amid a playoff push our qb gets speared and the guy goes oops my bad and goes on his way takes the W and celebrates after? Like dude you won dirty don't go and make it worse.

Just review all hits that lead to the concussion protocol
I truly believe it is based on the player/ team also. If a hit like that happened to Lamar Jackson the player would be ejected from the game and get the 15 yard penalty.

I don't know, I've seen Jackson take some seriously questionable late shots with no flags or warnings.

Seattle, New Orleans, New England, and a few others (Giants come to mind) seem to be able to play by a different rule set.

Hell, Seattle can have a receiver run full bore at a defender, grab onto them and have Wilson throw it at their back, never turn back to look for a pass and get a PI call out of it.
Clowns quotes after the game:

"Worst fans in the world," he said as he prepared for his post-game shower. "You know that, right?"

"They hated me coming out [of the tunnel], they hated me going in … I don't know why," Clowney added. "I'm just like, trying to be friends. I'm a friendly guy."

Regarding a hit on Foles when he was with the Texans:

"I didn't even knock Nick Foles out of the game and I got death threats," Clowney said. "I tried to tell them boys on my team. I said, 'This team hates me. Their fans hate me for some reason' They think I tried to kill Nick Foles."
He may not be a dirty player but he definitely plays dirty... In that comment about Foles he seemed disappointed in himself for not knocking him out.

Clowney's interpretation of playing fast is spearing which I get cause it's faster and more punishing than keeping your head up and form tackling. But then he shouldn't be surprised when fan's interpretation of him is that he is dirty since the NFL's interpretation of spearing is that its illegal.
It amazes me how quickly the perception turns when it's the enemy. Nobody would think that was a penalty if it had been a 49er who committed it. QB's are already sissified as it is. When they are running the ball they have the least amount of protection afforded a player on the field. RB's are by far the least protected position on the offense and when a QB is running they are deemed a running back. The hit was not only not cheap, it was clean and rightfully not called during the game.

Is this still the rule? If not, why were we not blasting Lamar Jackson on every play when we played the Ravens?
Cant prove intent.
