Can THE WISH-MAN tackle??

I think he needs to work on the tackles a bit. He inferred in one interview that it isn't the best part of his game.

I'd say, given his AFL background and relative to the average punter, he's probably not too bad. His prior shoulder injuries may be the concern.

If our punter is worried about his ability to tackle, we've got a serious problem.

True this.

Where did you read that he's concerned? He said that's not his best part.
It may take awhile to figure out just exactly when and where to use WISH with his trick kicks. But if he truly can kick a "grubber" while running laterally, and if he can kick a knuckler, in addition to his 5.2 second "hangs,", then it is likely kyle will figure out how to use him maximally. Wouldn't it be slick to have him responsible for an extra pair of Ws this yr, plus giving us way better field position not just on O but on D.

We all got tired of seeing opponents start their offense on their 30 yd line, not to mention their 40...vs us starting our O well inside our 20. Lots fo things just killed us last yr....#1, of course, was injury....but crappy field position was right up there also.

If ever a team needed to improve on field position, we are it. Hopefully kyle really spends some time on figuring out where WISH can be used with his trick punts, not least of which is his knuckler. We all know what it was like to field punts in the "Stick" with a good healthy cross wind , gusting to 20-30 m,p. h. It would be sweet to see opponent PRs having no idea where the knuckler will come down.

Add in that extra almost full one second hang time...and ...well, you have the potential for a real game changer. I hope kyle works with WISH and figures out just where each of his multiple punts can be used...and when. Probably a better way to go about it is for WISH to show JL and kyle his full repertoire and let kyle decide where he wishes to use each one.

I hope we are in for a punting treat. Doesn't take much to change the result of some games, and this is just a superb trick to have in the option bag. With the D we had last yr, I don't think WISH would have made that much difference. But with Dee, Bossa, Kwon ....and return of the dozen and a half guys who were injured, my bet is Wish is a force multiplier for our D and vice versa...ie ,he can make our D better and our D can make him better.

Plus he's fast so KS could use him as our emergency 5th RB

I think all that will happen.

However I reckon he is odds on that he will muff his first punt ever in the NFL. Just so all the naysayers will have some fuel to whine all season long about losing out on a 4th round defensive secondary scrub who might fluke it onto the practice squad

Sure that can happen, but then again, that is what PS is for. I'm well familiar with stepping up to the first tee, and playing like an idiot on the first hole...and then playing well the remainder of the 18. But these guys are pros, and i kinda doubt that. His grubber and knuckler are weapons. Can't wait to see 'em.

One thing to consider, if Mitch really is for real, a dynamic gunner like Raheem Mostert might not be a necessity anymore. That would be one way to keep just 3 Arby's.

Or , we could reprogram Mostert to get down there quick, then when in range, hold back enough so PR doesn't feel threatened, so he fields the ball and then...BAM... Mostert lays the wood to him. That'd be kinda neat.

Most PRs aren't used to a 5.2 hang time , and another second , waiting, could play hobb with their heads. The longer that ball is up there, oh, say 20% longer than he is used to, it isn't too hard to imagine a muffed knuckled punt now and then. Or how about the punter looking like he may run for the 1st down and he lays a "grubber" on the PR , which runs along the ground...and suddenly bounces way over his head ...or into his chest, and bounces onto the ground.

Not having seen it, i can only imagine what PRs are thinking when they first see this. It has to be unnerving. There just has to be some Turnovers with WISH's Oz punts.

I'm excited to see the O, with JimmyG, all the WRs, the WR/TE/RBs...

I'm excited to see the D with that DLine...Bosa, Buck , Solomon, Dee...and now with not only Warner behind them but also Kwon...

And i am excited to see WISH's Oz punts. Hangtime, grubber runners, knucklers....who doesn't want to see that? Plus it sounds like he's got more in his bag.

And, then we have an OC/HC who is one of the most imaginative football minds on the planet. You don't think Kyle is running thru his mind where he uses which one of Wish's trick punts and where? And here i wondered why they took a Punter in the 4th?
I reckon some of the more outlandish punts will be held in check until KS is convinced they won't hurt the team.
The tweet below is the one I want to see Mitch beat out this season. Great Aussie rivalry in the same division who also does trick plays well.

Madden must've forgot I'm averaging 9 yards a carry. Crazy

hopefully dickson is the one who gets to show off his skill when we play them 2x a year
Mostert with Mitch will be a deadly combo for special teams. Who do you guys think will be the other gunner? Reed? Hurd?
