Mitch Wishnowsky - Punter (Utah) is a Free Agent

Wishnowsky, just like Moody, is a perfect example of the Niners falling in love with a prospect (based off a need) then overdrafting them because they are afraid to let the draft come to them and don't have certain contingencies in place if said player is picked before their turn.
Wish is a cool guy, but I won't really miss the punter. Looking forward to Morstead

Still looks awful, maybe our coverage improves but K, P, LS are completely ?s We haven't returned a kick for 7 years nor a punt for 14 years

Weeks has been a Pro Bowler as a LS.

Morstead has been a Pro Bowler as a punter.

These are experienced vets, not random guys off the street.

Right they are "has beens" they're just a bandaid on an open wound
Cut the decent punter but keep the absolute garbage kicker. Makes sense.

Good lord our ST looks awful

What even happened to our LS? I thought he was supposed to be good but we released him for a 39yr old?

That 39 year old has consistently been one of the best long snappers in football.

Thats good to hear but he's still 39

but its still just long snapping.

the reason for that is i don't think wish can go in the offseason program which is getting underway. moody is fit to be out there and do stuff. so he'll get to compete in the kicking competition, i think moody has an uphill battle to make roster.

Until he retires and we have to find a new one. We've seen snaps go over heads of punters and hit the dirt on field goals. We might be looking for a P/K/LS next season that's not good

Ok, and?

Fans love to look at everything with hindsight and in a vacuum. The vast majority of fans make flippant comments on team situations without realizing alllllllllllllll the moving parts in an offseason. We have no clue how the team feels about replacements already on the team, in FA, projected FA next year, in the draft this year, in the draft next year. The 49ers are universally recognized as having one of, if not the most stacked, rosters in the NFL for the last several years, and a large part of that came from the draft. Could the 49ers have benefited in the past from letting the draft "Come to them"? I'd imagine, but then there'd be fans on here b***hing about the positions that didn't get filled as a result of not being aggressive and going after who they wanted, as has been their SOP.

Im not one of those "the FO walks on water" kind of guys, but find the "They're so dumb, it's so obvious" brand of criticism beyond arrogant. Being a fan board, it's prevalent, but still so 2000's in regard to message board fair.

Nothing we can't take care of in the first 3 rounds of the draft.
Andy Lee was special.

Wishnowsky was only a punter.

Wishnowsky was a better punter. Better at directional punting, better at avoiding touch backs, better at getting punts inside the 20.

Andy Lee consistently give the defense better field position after the offense goes 3 and out. That happens often back then. There was a reason he was All Pro.

Wish is a good coffin kicker, he got to give props to Kyle for punting near midfield.
Worst pick ever hands down.
I remember there were clowns defending using a 4th-round selection on a punter

As evidenced by Wish's multiple pro bowls/all-pro selections.
