I will be interested to see how much he ends up making this year per snap compared to other top paid edge rushers.
Why per snap?
Do we rate pass rushers on snap percentage. If I sort DLine by snaps percentage will the top of the list correlate to best pass rushers? Just curious
Good question. But the more opportunities for Ford the better. I could see giving him off on most 1st downs and obvious running downs. Other than that hopefully he's on the field making plays.
I see the point, I'll reach into my bag of tricks and say there's probably an appreciable amount of diminishing returns with an increase in snap percentage.
I'd leave it there but I am feeling verbose. First factor creating diminishing return is fatigue, second is that the increased snaps are more luckily to be on running plays limiting the chances of sacks.
Now that I'm forced to think about it, I'd prefer him to get 10 sacks on a lower snap count. More effective, more focused (passing downs), less opportunity for injury. I think we could make a case that being able to effective rotate a DLine could be extremely powerful....
