Is there any hope this guy can "fix" his knee in the off-season? If not, I can't imagine his career be more than a couple years managing such significant chronic pain.

Once again, he's questionable and it's on week 4 ( 5 w/ bye week)

Doesn't seem like it. Maybe they can try something different? Hopefully we can get 3 years out of him. Let him rest and see him on Monday

No doubt he's a talent, but I'm not sure he was worth the trade. not Sure what an extension will look like if at all.

49ers signed him to an extension of $87 mil I think when he was traded.

A 2nd rounder for hopefully 3 seasons of double digit sacks is worth it to me. What i do worry about is him only being able to play limited snaps even after abye week. Hopefully he's a full go and can play more snaps. We need him on more than just obvious passing downs.

if his issue is anything like my issue ...... It hurts in the moment.....then goes away. Its swelling, there are very powerful medications for swelling.

I can see him not practicing or taking needless reps to be ready for game day, as his career goes on he might end up a 3rd down player in years 4 and 5 because an injury like that can sap conditioning. I know in my case i could not do judo 5 nights a week, i could not work out with my golden gloves buddies.... regardless of what my passion is.

He still has serious value to the 49ers, not as much value as an every down player...but he still has serious value. People like him do not grow on trees.

Of which is extremely easy to get of after year 2 if need be.

Are the limited snaps worth the 2nd round pick?

For a guy that can flip a game with one play, definately. Even if fully healthy, this dline is so deep Ford may still have only been playing passing downs.

He probably figured the off season rest was all he needed for it to go away. I think he did mention something about seeking more help after this year (maybe operate on it or more serious rehab, etc)...now that he knows simple rest isn't gonna cut it

Stop being greedy, is 10 sacks year over year worth a 2nd round pick? I could care less about snap count.

It's not greed. It's looking to paint Lynch as a failure.

Oh that makes sense.

I think we've been bad for so long that we over value our draft picks. That's as fans. For many years the draft has been the most exciting part of our year!

I feel you. I mean, draft is a gamble anyways. But we'll see how healthy he stays and how his production is moving forward.

1.) He's on his 6th season and has only had 10 sacks twice.

2.) That leads me to my second point. Please enlighten me on how he's a guarantee to have have 10 sacks, or even stay healthy enough to get at least 10 sacks this season.

Look, I'm not rooting against Dee Ford. I just fear our GM did not do his due diligence when he decided to trade for could potentially be damaged goods. I'm looking after the best interest of this football club, not John Lynch. I was a Niner fan before Lynch and I'll be one after Lynch. Or Dee Ford for that matter.

Did I hurt your little Lynch feelings? Is that you, John?
