What's less than "meh"?
Better option than the oft injured Anzah or the average producer at best (with the best lineman around him in Jax and Rams) in Fowler. Just restructure his contract. Is he worth a 4th?? Maybe not but his floor is about 8 sacks and his ceiling is a lot higher.
I don't think he is that bad of an option, hasn't been a high sack guy but like Graham of Philly, consistently one of the best in QB pressures and hits.

Just depends on what NY is expecting back. Compensation should be minimal since it is largely a salary dump.
Would he cost as much as graham

I think it should be about the same but his Number is what 17 million? It sucks but maybe we could restructure it or work out a deal with the Giants. We need a good edge rusher in fa and the draft bc knowing the niners injury luck, bosa or Allen will get injured and then we will have to rely on ???

Ugh.
This was a guy I legit wanted a few years ago when he hit free agency. And then 5 years, 85 million happened . I couldn't even fault Baalke for that one. Vernon was and is just a productive pass rusher, but isn't necessarily a star. However on this defense, with Buckner creating havoc up the middle, Vernon could get a lot of clean-up sacks. Certainly a lot more than Marsh/Thomas AND he would actually provide some help to Buckner. If Bosa is off the board at two, a line with Vernon/Buckner/Williams would be very formidable. Not as sexy as people would like, but we could create some serious pressure with that group. I doubt the team does it, but it is an option.

I think Vernon is a risky move. Sorta like Ansah. I feel better about Fowler than Vernon

He was part of a team defense that literally quit a couple of years ago.

I still want this guy, especially if we can restructure or New York you can take a little bit of the It. At least this guy has the ability to get over 15 sacks, I would also take Robert Quinn. Those are my top two targets. Ziggy is OK but injured and inconsistent, Houston would be great except he is really old but still would be good
I'm all about it once he hits the market...big no to trading for him though
