don't buy it…if that was the case then he would have asked for a trade as soon as the season was over

These are the kinds of things that make it hard for teams to maintain greatness. It often seems to be WRs that are the guys that want more touches, more playing time or more money. Look at all the great WRs that have been traded or let go in recent years mostly for financial reasons.

DeAndre Hopkins, Tyreek Hill, Odell Beckham, Stefon Diggs, DaVante Adams, Amari Cooper and several others that were good but not great. It seems like they're never happy. Definitely the prima donna's of the league.

Doesn't help that every draft, there seem to be a boat load of guys that seem really good. Just look at all these guys that are running 4.3 40 times these days.

I feel like its bigger than ever this year. Seems questionable to me if they want to rush and pay this guy top money after 1 good season
The problem is drafting the right WR...which has been a struggle with the 49ers. There haven't been too many great WR drafted by the 49ers since TO. Plenty of them didn't pan out...lol did some research and found this list since TO at this link (Grant Cohn warning) https://www.si.com/nfl/49ers/news/the-23-wide-receivers-the-49ers-drafted-between-terrell-owens-and-deebo-samuel

He's not going anywhere. His agent trying to get the very most for his client so his other clients can slide in just under Deebos money.
there will be more teams really interested in Deebo (regardless of talent level) than in Adams and Hill combined for a multitude of reasons.

Value does not decide market, market decides value.

I also don't think he was going to be running the ball nearly as much next season anyways. Kyle isn't dumb and the offense will be very different under Lance anyways.

We will obviously speculate all this regardless lol. imo he wants more money. I do have a feeling we are lowballing him.

Just listening to Chris Biderman/Nick Wagner this AM what they think is going on is Deebo's idea of being a "wide back" means he should get top 3 WR cash AND more because of that RB value. SF believes he's a good not elite WR that has real value as a RB on top of it. They view that contact as looking at the top RBs and top 10ish WRs and finding a sweet spot.

Not sure what "lowballing" would be in this situation? For the sake of argument using APY (which is stupid) I'm guessing they're at around $20M vs Deebo wanting $25M, also it's April vs July and negotiations are still pretty early in the process. I think his agent is trying to expedite the process because he has two other elite WRs waiting in the wings.

I just don't buy the usage crap...it's part of what separates him from other WRs. He's a good not great route runner, he's not separating like Adams/Diggs or Allen. That's not his overall game and fine. He's a YAC monster and culture builder in a locker room. I think Kyle and Deebo are a match made in heaven and he needs to realize that.

Good post
we've had about six reasons so far, mostly from a media completely guessing and with no real information.

Including Schefter's " I think" video. You think ?

He deserves to ask for more but that is alot of money for a WR that is getting his 1st contract after his rookie deal. Remember that with Hill, Adams, and Diggs this is their 2nd contract after their rookie deal. How much did they get after their rookie deal? Trent Williams a 1st ballot hall of famer, the best LT in Football, A generational talent, got $23 Million. Kittle is getting around $15 Million and Deebo would be getting about $7 Million more than him. Warner is around $17 Million I think.

This as well. He does deserve to ask for more but 22 per with 50 guaranteed is not a low ball offer. That's negotiation. He asks for 27, they say best we can do is 22, they meet at ~24 and we forget about all this. Deebo needs to wake up and realize he's in a great spot here. Kyle's not gonna keep running him into the ground cause he's not an idiot and Deebo knows that

Sounds like we've gotten beyond that initial non-conversation (Paraag's "massacre" trail balloon) and there's a real number on the table so everyone can backtrack. LOL

LOL yes, I mean its always about the money, but I found Sims and Florios talk interesting. And Sims basically found out two things - It's not the money and its delicate beyond that..... It could simply be he wants to be closer to home, but he doesn't realize he has no choice at this point in his career.

shefter is the same idiot that said Mac Jones 100% is a lock. Why even believe anything at this point?

yep you can;t even believe what Deebo and the agent are saying to people as truth at the moment.

I can't believe that's the case. If it is, it has to be one the biggest examples of immaturity I've seen from an NFL player. Deebo can't be that immature.

That's easy for you to say you live in Chicago.

Better get the ole lube out. Devante Adams didnt net that. Tyreek Hill didn't net that. Arguably the best WR in football and the most dangerous WR in football.

Difference is those guys weren't as important to their teams as Deebo is, because they have elite QBs.
