He's not the first and won't be the last, but as this becomes normal, it's really out of whack.

Exactly what he is worth.

Care to name all the trades he made in 2017?

I could see the Jets doing it--- They have draft capital. They don't really have any huge long-term contracts on their payroll. Saleh/LaFleur would love to have him on their team, and they would know how to utilize him.

Kupp signed that deal prior to 2020. He wasn't WR triple-crown winning, Super Bowl MVP Cooper Kupp at that point.
Next year is his contract year. Unless his performance falls off the face of the earth next year, he's going to command huge numbers when it's extension time.

If Deebo's production is the same or better than it was this past season, his price tag is going to go up also.

Agreed.. All in all, an All-Pro nod at WR is already evidence that you are an elite WR. To replicate or top that in a subsequent season just further cements how good you are. And the thing about Deebo Samuel is that he's only 27 years old. He's entering into his prime now.

While we do have the option of the franchise tag, I'm very much of the opinion that we pay him long-term or trade him. I personally don't like the franchise tag as an option. All that does is just make a player unhappy, create a lot of drama for the team and fanbase, and extends things out another year. And in the meantime, his price tag probably goes up if he tacks on another productive season.

Who cares if he's trying to get as much cash as he can. We watched SF spend nothing substantial in FA because they want to pay their own. We've seen teams across the league show that the cap is basically b******t. The freaking saints were like $80M in the red and now have the 6th most in cap space in the NFL ($20M)… they didn't cut a single person & signed a couple QBs along with others.

If ya'll are playing GM (and sounds like no one wants to pay him) why would another GM give up say a top 10 pick & or multiple 1sts and players PLUS pay him whatever made up APY ya'll think he's asking for?

They restructured like everybody lol. We didn't. Restructurings have us in this deep s**t with Dee Ford. And we were great on cap space for years until we did the big offseason where we brought in Kwon Alexander, Dee Ford and McKinnon and Richburg, all of whom we overpaid for because its free agency. The Falcons are eating how much dead money due to Matt Ryan's trade? Its real, but as long as you are willing to restructure or extend, you can kick the can down the road. It works when you have players you want to commit to. It doesn't work when the value of the player exceeds the value of the contract.

With that said, I'm with you on Deebo getting what he can and its BS that people are turning on him. They set aside this money and its a negotiation. 49ers (Paraag) typically don't just give players the whole bag. It's a negotiation. I would be concerned if we hit August and there was no extension in place. Hope this is done soon so we can get to Bosa.

He's been injured and missed games in all of his 3 seasons so far. Y'all cry and whined about D.Ford missing games and you wanna give Deebo up to 30 plus M a year contract? Lol....Trade his diva ass, Aiyuk will be better with Trey Lance anyway.

DID someone else called him DIVA ???

I LIKE THIS GUY ALREADY !!!

Oh boy, Moon creaming like Mayo with the idea of Deeva getting traded

Oh boy, frankie needs to have some cream and understand the DEEVAH is NOT the best NON QB in the NFL..

Exactly. Banking on him having an off year or getting injured so we can save money if we push off signing him another year is really one sided and kind of sad too. The other side is what I posted above. So what happens if he has another all pro season? Do we trade him because we may not be able to afford him at that point? What kind of message does that send to the rest of the team?
Just pay him, the cap will continue to go up, backload the contract, it's that simple, next year you do the same for Bosa !

We will. Just no rush.

True. But let's be real too… Trent Williams, George Kittle, Fred Warner are all signed to big long-term contracts as well. Two, three years from now when all of their cap hits rise… money will be tight.

I'm pretty sure we make it work, but just saying… it's understandable if things go the way of DeForest Buckner.

FTFY.

So your claim is factually incorrect.

Sure, cause a 1-year difference completely negates the point I'm trying to make.
