Lame.

Even if he had a two year deal they shouldn't be prohibiting him from a major promotion. Its not like he's along term Shanahan guy. He took a chance, hopped on the bandwagon and by all accounts did really well so he deserves a promotion. Now bring in the next promising, hungry coach looking to make his name as a future DC and rinse and repeat.

Yeah...just really like the 2 S C2 this year. Communication seems to be WAY better this year too. Thanks for the help...obviously he deserves a raise.

Now, as a passing game teacher/coordinator, who is the person to step up into that role?

Marquand Manuel is a perfect fit. Connections to Kyle in ATL, and Saleh/Sherm in Seattle. Not a good DC but a good DB coach.

Hopefully it's being worked on.

not a bad option like him or Richards. Also don't mind a guy that's not a pure cover 3 guy as the DB coach (like Woods) it's good to get some fresh ideas in the building.

I'm hoping for Richard. Was pounding the table for him before Dallas scooped him up.
Apparently, we're trying hard to keep him

As we should. The man has done a superb job all year.
Joe Woods was also the man behind the no fly zone in Denver.
Maybe he is not a great DC but he is a hell of a Defensive Backs coach.

Good. He's been huge for the secondary this year and adding C2 and varied coverages to Saleh's C3.

Promise him DC when Saleh takes a HC position next season.

I believe that's what they are saying. He would need it in writing of course.
The 49ers know Saleh could be gone soon, and Woods was their next in line for DC. They will likely give him a DC level pay raise and promise him the DC job if Saleh leaves.

Yeah, who knows with these must-be-first tweets. And I'm not really sure how we'd make a late push unless we gave Saleh the boot and made him DC...since that's what he'd be offered over there. It doesn't add up to me but hope it somehow is true.

I do hope we keep him. If I were him I'd stay. He'll be in a much better situation than in Cleveland; he knows the personnel, has an in place scheme I'm positive he had a hand in drawing up, and he'll have a SB caliber offense with stability atop the coaching staff and front office. I am certain that Saleh will be gone in a year, if not after the SB. I have no doubt that should he stay he'll get DC money. To my knowledge there no salary cap for coaches.

Hey Joe Woods, the grass isn't always greener.
