Maddog has been analyzing the draft since I found this web forum over 18 years ago, IDK how long he was going before that. My point is the guy knows a thing or 2, and if he grades the trade a "F-" his words "couldn't give it a lower grade" that means something.

MD had Fournette rated in the 30s in he Pre draft big board last year so saying his analysis is the be all end all is ridiculous. MD puts in great work and I applaud him for it but like Kiper, Brandt, McShay and others... they are going to miss on more than a few prospects as well. That's just one example of when MD has been dead wrong.

If Pettis beats press coverage in camp, it would be our CB sucking lol

Hopefully he doesn't get bullied by Sherman too hard. Poor guy.

Setup the mobile counseling tent for the bullied. We don't need another Jonathan Martin
Kyle definitely knows his WRs. If Joe Willams shows up, then Kyle definitely has a vision to spot offensive talent.

If he's smart he will seek Sherman out to learn from a quality CB.

All you f**kin talent scouts on here are annoying. I swear you would think you guys travel Tyne country and watch film on these players 24/7. Just because one scout has a player graded somewhere vs another doesn't mean much. These scouts are also looking for players to fit scheme also. I didn't even know this Pettis guy existed, but I like the pick alot. The more I watch his film, I think he can be a very productive WR. He is a natural catcher, has amazing body control, and has the ability to make crazy adjustments on the fly. Hw is fast, but even better then pure speed is his ability to shake coverage.

I'm not a scout. It's just what I see on tape. He will have more time to work out now with 49ers trainers, and focus 100% on his full time career as a football player. People forget these kids in college have to split their time with school as football, which takes away from development some. Now it's 100% go time and the learning curve is steep. We are going to see some if these 2nd year guys start to shine.

Lol mentions film and tape. You mean YouTube highlights

Okay so out of everything I said your biggest critique is that used the terms "film" snd "tape?" I guess my observations from his highlight/YOUTUBE clips is petty accurate then. I hope this dude shows up and shuts your asses up.
He'll have more yards than Anthony Miller

I'm sure he will...or Sherman will seek him out, as he likely will all the WRs.

No better way to learn the game than from a top DB who is also a former WR.

You're betting the house on maddog? Vs Kyle? Nothing against maddog he puts work into it, but he is just like Mel Kiper. Until they coach or work for a team that is a bad bet.

Now I will say this, he is merely grading the trade and value, which I understand. Did he say Pettis wasn't a 2nd rounder? All this value BS, I don't care, it is more important that in the end, he lives up to the expectations. Was he productive. If his ceiling reaches John Taylor then the trade/pick was more than worth it. If he does more great.

His is more group think-doesn't take into account the scheme fit. How many time does a good player go to another team and fails-because they don't fit. You think he is going to get bullied-then explain trent, or edelaman, welker, cooks? Production.

I hated the trade from the minute it was made, almost threw my tablet into my Television. When we traded up to 44 I was pumped, here comes Anthony Miller or Isaiah l Oliver, nope here comes 4th round projected Dante Pettis. Thanks Shanahan. Fell in love with another "coaches son" hes so biased when it comes to player evaluations. No wonder he missed on so many good players last year. Literally traded out of the pick that could have been Kamara. Wonder how many good players he missed this year trying to find his exact type

None of that matters the minute the draft ends. You can hate the trade while teams are still on the clock but after that anything could happen.

If you traded every pick you had to select Antonio Brown in the 1st round you'd have been torn to pieces by every pundit in the business at the time but he'd still have been the steal of the draft.

Shanahan, Lynch, other coaches, scouts...all put in so much work and have such better access than anyone on this board it is silly to get upset over their picks until they either pan out or are cut. Just because I wasn't tuned into Pettis does not make him suspect. He's 6'1", 190, quick and explosive into his cuts, and has great hands. Sounds so much better than past picks like...Patton.

So much this...

What I like about Lynchahan is that they come up with a plan that fits their system and what they want to build, and they stick to it.

Its ok to respect a draftniks opinion but lets not act like its better than anyone in the actual draft rooms lol. Case in point.... Calling McGlinchey a reach based on predraft boards, yet he would of been picked at 10 if not at 9. So by definition it wasnt a reach, there was no trading back and still getting the player. The weak OL class argument holds no water as strong OL classes like 2013 have shown to be pretty weak in retrospect.

And AJ Jenkins
Love the Pettis pick. Going to be so fun to watch all the ways Shanny uses him

Where Pettis' route running is on another level
compared to his peers is his ability to tell a variety of
efficient stories. His double-moves on the out-and-up
and the hitch-and-go are believable because of his
footwork, pacing, weight drop, and how he turns his
head in the direction of the false break.
However, it's not just double moves where Pettis'
story-telling comes into play. He sets up longerdeveloping
routes with miniature stories in his stems
that can turn opponents around as he works them
inside-out or outside-in.
