He trained hard (and put on weight) to prepare for the season….
That's great, but Should he not be doing this each & every year??

He did something very different last year and lost too much weight. Maybe he thought quickness would make him a better pass blocker. Whatever it was resulted in lower quality of play. He put back on weight to increase quality of play.

He was slow before - I wonder how the weight gain will affect him.

Dude could be 360 and he's still going to get plowed and get our QB killed. Hopefully this dude shows up right this season.

If he put on mostly muscle, he's going to be more explosive.

I hope he has a good plug for Mexican supplements.

If he added muscle - that would be ideal. Don't know about the Mexican supplements, though.

We'll see soon enough how the weight looks on the field.

I'll be pulling for him to redeem himself because if he gets it together as a pass blocker we could have a really impressive OL out there in pass pro for a change. Whether it's Jimmy or Trey starting at QB that will certainly bode well for our success on offense.

Let's hope he improves - he looked really bad last year in pass protection. Hopefully, he's more stout with the weight gain.

So instead of getting trucked by a DB he will only do so by a DL

It's weird to me that one of the best run blocking Tackles in the league is slow.

His reactions and reflexes in PP appear slow

He himself is not slow...in run blocking he knows where he has to go and moves

Seems to be better attacking rather than reacting
They haven't even played any games yet and the fans are beating him up already. Let's at least give him a chance and see if the workouts and added weight results in improved play.

I am actually excited about him this year. Contract year - and 49ers invested big time at the IOL positions - which is also a big boost for the tackles.

As long as the group stays relatively healthy - I think our OL is gonna be really good this year.
